"Wish I was old and a little sentimental. You gotta see the waves, not the wine bottle."

So I have been absent for a spell. These things happen, but this time it specifically happened because I moved into my new place, and it took us far too long to get internet hooked up (fucking Comcast dipshits). But things are all set up now, so I figured I should check in.

The new apartment is lovely. In West Philly, across the street from a park, and generally in a good walk-able neighborhood with public transit access for when I need that. It's not perfect, but for the price it's great. I could go on about little niggling frustrations, but the point is overall it's quite a nice little place.

I am living (more or less) independently, supporting myself primarily by teaching aerials. How awesome is that?

Though billed as a 2-bedroom, it has one large room and two small rooms (aside from the kitchen and bathroom, of course). Solution we came up with is basically for my roommate to take the large room and for me to use one of the small rooms as a sleeping space and one as a music studio (and hangout zone for when we have people over). Naturally, I got the music studio set up more or less the day I moved in, while my bedroom is still a mess.

That, right there, is a thing of beauty. My family of guitars, all ready to be picked up and rocked upon at a moment's notice.

Not pictured: the compatibility issues between that keyboard's USB drivers and my 64-bit OS which may cause me to have to sell the keyboard and buy another. Still, sexy.

Otherwise, life continues apace. Aerials mojo is a bit low, probably because I have no performances lined up to push me, but music mojo is flowing well, and I have at least 2 commissions going at the moment. I have been conditioning and working on handstands a lot lately, and have thus been building some arms.

I am enjoying being me. It's a bit overwhelming sometimes, and often physically painful, but it's a good life I'm starting to lead here. Now just have to keep moving forward.
