Like most of you know, work on the 20th was...interesting.
First off, it was simply one of those days you know is fated for hell. You can feel it. It starts expressing itself in small ways (the egg rolls at the Chinese Department being out, forcing me to go with a Crab Ragoon that tasted like paste) and mounts to some explosively "What the fuck?" event. My explosive event came in the form of a manager from the grocery side coming back and asking me if I had gotten everything my own manager has asked to get done...done. I said, yes, they were done and make a joking crack of "Checking to see if LeAnne-" She's my shift partner, "-and I are being lazy, eh?"
To which he replies, "Carol-" my own manager that asked him to check in on me, apparently, "-didn't say anything about LeAnne."
He proceeds to list off possibilities of things I might be doing wrong, what might be actually happening, what I could do to correct it, etc. I go on with "Bah, I don't know why she picked me out. I don't care, whatever."
"You should care."
"Why? If she's going to be talking about me behind my back about work I'm not doing, how am I supposed to know? It's hard to care about things I'm not really informed about."
Which apparently was the worse thing I could have said. He left. Comes back five minutes later with this: "Go to the front or go home."
Uhm, what?
Apparently my comment of 'I don't care', he believed, went towards me not doing my job right. I tried to calm things down and explain that's not how I meant it and he pulls the manager "Don't argue with me, I'm the manager here."
Let me tell you a few things about this guy. He's one of the 'buddy buddy' managers that you forget is a manager because of his chill, generally awesome attitude. I'm cool enough to make him an asshole. Yay me. And as we're leaving (I said I'd go up front), he tries to crack some dumbass joke. Are you fucking kidding me? You pulled the manager card, fucknut, I'm not your friend. You just revoked that God damn right.
He also pointed out everytime he's come back there I've just been standing behind the counter. If he had looked around, he would have noticed approaching customers. Hell, when he was talking to me? Customers actually came to the freaking counter and cut him off. I. WAS. BACK. THERE. TO. DO. MY. JOB. >.o
So fucking infuriating. Oh, and the list of things he came back to talk about in the beginning? My partner was doing my job. Yup. And I was doing hers, so? Shit was still fucking getting done. He has the nerve to try and say I don't do my crap when two of the other employees I work with are taking smoke breaks to talk with people up front during their shifts. I don't mind. I don't complain. But why isn't that shit called out? And me just standing around? Terry, the same guy that pulled this shit, often comes back to snack on our food and chat around with us. Do not give me "You don't do your job," bullshit. Not a quote, but he more or less implied it.
So yea, this is one of the worst days I've had in weeks. Maybe it's the world's balance for the awesome I'll experience when GU2 comes out? Fuck, I don't know.
I just hope this goes away.
