Anyhow...it seems that it is time to update. Well, I promised a discussion of my religious beliefs...so here goes.
For the record, I wish to declare that I am Muslim, but I am not a terrorist. I really hate the fact that terrorism is related to Islam. Anyhow, as a Muslim I believe in a great deity called Allah, translated God. Islam is different in a few aspects from the other monotheistic religions, specifically Judaism and Christianity...I don't really discuss others because I don't really know much about others. Anyhow, as far as I know, Judaism and Christianity believe that a Messiah will/has come and absolve them of their sins. In Islam we have prophets who preach the word of God...some of which include Adam, Noah, Moses, Jesus, David, Solomen, and Mohammed. Now, we believe that Allah is the only God and that Mohammed is his messenger. There are many rules laid down by the Quran about how to live one's life. Salvation is achieved by works alone. We believe that there are 2 angels that spend their time upon each shoulder. On the right shoulder, the angel records all of the good deeds done during one's life, while on the left should, the angel records all of the bad deeds done during one's life. After death, these "books" will be weighed against each other...which ever one is heavier determines the fate of one's soul.
As far as I am concerned, I believe that organized religion is not too cool. I believe that one should be free to choose what religion to follow, or rather what concepts to follow. I personally choose to follow the major and most minor rules of Islam. I believe that the religion is well put together, however the way it is practiced does not seem to be what was intended. I don't enjoy the downplay of the role of women or the oppression of women. I see women as the seat of life...the givers of life, really none of us would be here without women. Yeah, we wouldn't be here without men either, but women have to go through much more than men. Also, I don't enjoy the gossip and fashion (trying to impress people by dressing up) that goes on at mosque. I prefer to sit at home and say my prayers. I think that it should be more personal than it is right now...oh well, one man can not change too much. I just hope that I don't burn in hell for my beliefs, and I hope that I don't get attacked for my beliefs. In summary, I am not an atheist and I am not agnostic, but rather I am anarchist, as far as religion goes, which is kind of odd for me...oh well.
