Political rant: R18+ games

Nov 06, 2011 07:06

So they've finally allowed R18+ games into Australia. Not like heaps of people have been advocating it for years.

However, there are people who are still saying "no we shouldn't have R18+ games, children can get their hands on them." Personally, I think that's a double standard. We have R18+ movies available, and kids can easily get their hands on those. While I understand that there's a difference between playing a game and watching a movie in terms of experience, the difference is insubstantial.

I really want to tell the people who say this that, "it's your job as a parent to make sure your children are watching the right things. Don't compromise the rest of the gaming population because you're too lazy to raise your kids properly."

Very mild rant, but mostly because I'm happy the bill finally got passed through.
