JYJ NYC Show Case Fan Account
After a long-ass trip all the way from MA, my mom and I got to NYC. It took us a while to find the Hammerstein but when we did I noticed there was already a huge line. Apparently, there were some girls waiting out there since 6am and earlier! Anyways, so I hurry to my hotel and get ready as quickly as possible. We ended up getting in line around 4pm-ish. We weren’t too far back in line and it was pretty calm. But as the hours started passing more and more people lined up and before we knew it, the line was going to the end of the street and around the block!
They were supposed to let the ticket buyers in at 6:30 and the show was supposed to start at 7:30. But for some reason, they were behind schedule and the crowds started getting restless and crazy. There was a lot of pushing and squeezing but no one got hurt. Us ticket holders finally got in the door at around 8pm (finally!). Since they were letting in the ticket holders first though, many people were very unhappy. Most of the people that were there since 6am were the ones who didn’t buy a ticket at all and even though the ticket holders got there later, we still got in first. So for those of you in LA who want to just show up and get in for free without having any ticket, make sure you show up wicked early! We were told that about 3,000 people were turned away.
Anyways, once everyone was inside, they began to play JYJ music in the background to keep us entertained. The announcer came on and said “Are you guys ready for JYJ!?”(or something to that effect) and of course we all screamed that we were! And right when we thought they were going to give us what we wanted…the announcer continued “Well, we’ll be ready in 15 minutes!” causing the whole audience to groan with impatience. But we were easily subdued with the music. They continued to tease us all by turning the lights off and on lol. The whole place wasn’t filled (so I don’t know why they claimed they reached capacity) because there was still plenty of seating and standing room left but whatever. I was on the floor and even though there was plenty of room, people quickly crowded together, it was almost impossible to move. Then, the hosts finally came out and introduced JYJ to us and all of a sudden they boys were up there singing and dancing (apparently, they rose up from below the stage) and the crowd immediately started to push closer to the stage.
They performed two songs for us, Empty and Be My girl (I think). They opened with Empty, performed Be My girl and then left the stage. They came back shortly after to participate in a question and answer session. I don’t remember all of the questions but I’ll do my best to get the point across and remember as much as possible…
The hosts mentioned how much JYJ love their cats and then said that they have the best fans in the world and they bet we’d do anything…They then proceeded to make us meow…and then purr for them! Lol It was awkward but funny.
I don’t remember what the first question was but I remember that the three of them all looked around because none of them wanted to talk first, in the end, it was Yoochun who ended up getting stuck with the job lol.
The hosts asked if the member’s read all of the fan’s tweets.
Yoochun said that he tried to read about half of them.
Jaejoong also said that he tried to read as many as possible.
Junsu said that he didn’t want to lie and say that he read all of them, but that he does try to read as many as he can.
They were all asked what their hobbies were…
This was the one question that I remember Junsu actually answering in English and he was short and to the point lol. He said “driving.” and that was that lol
Jaejoong paused for a few moments, looking to Yoochun for help and trying to remember the English word for what he wanted to say…”Training?” he asked hesitantly at first, and then ”Training.” (as in working out) he suddenly said confidently. The female host then commented on how all of the boys were ripped (and she wasn’t lying, Junsu did have a little more muscle than before) and proceeded to mention how she saw that Jaejoong and Yoochun had tattoos on their backs. She asked if we could see them and of course the fans went crazy! Yoochun was hesitant but with extra persuading from the female host and the audience, he agreed and slowly turned around and lifted his shirt for everyone to see his back tattoo. Jaejoong, however, didn’t show us his =( But it’s alright since everyone knows what it says anyways lol
Yoochun was also asked his hobby and he replied that he liked to get tattoos and that he was even thinking about getting one after the show that night. All the fan girls immediately started thinking about stalking out all the nearby tattoo shops and the guy host read our minds because he said, “They’re you go Cassies! He’s getting a tattoo tonight! Go find them!” Or something along those lines lol
They were all asked what their favorite thing about New York City was…
Junsu’s response was that he really liked the endless view of buildings and skyscrapers, he thought it was beautiful.
Jaejoong’s response, in the words of the female host “he likes this stage right now, because he’s feeling all the love from you guys.” Aww Jaejoong! So sweet!
Yoochun’s response was…confusing…I, along with many others, thought he said that he liked the taxes in New York because there were so many…but the hosts seemed to have heard “taxis” because they then asked the audience “wouldn’t you love to get in a taxi with these guys?!” and of course everyone screamed! I have a video of that segment and no matter how many times I watch it I just can’t figure out if he’s saying taxes or taxi’s. I’ll post a link to the video and you can decide for yourself if you want.
The hosts asked Junsu what he liked about his members…
He said that he liked Jaejoong’s perfect skin which caused Jaejoong to get really embarrassed. He turned around in his chair and tried to cover his face and everything lol.
He then said that he liked Yoochun’s marvelously large forehead which cause Yoochun to also become embarrassed.
One random thing I remember about this was after Junsu answered about both of them, Yoochun and Jaejoong were facing the audience and they both covered their mouths in the same way, at the same time in embarrassment. It was adorable.
The guys were also asked what the hardest part of working on their first English album was and Junsu replied and I believe he said that the pronunciation was difficult but they had a lot of help.
The hosts also asked them if they had girlfriends or if they were single!
Yoochun replied in English that he was single and Jaejoong replied the same.
Junsu replied in Korean (of course lol) that he didn’t have a girlfriend either and the fan girls went crazy.
The hosts then made all of us Cassies feel even better by saying that we all had hope! Lol
Anyways, the question session ended pretty quickly and then they announced that they were going to sing their Korean song Found You. It was beautiful and the best part was probably that all the fans sang along. I hope the boys know that we love all of their music, not just the English songs.
Their last two songs were Ayyy Girl and a remix of Empty which they screamed for all of the fans to jump to and everyone immediately followed their directions. The audience went crazy and then confetti was exploding all over the place! I wanted to grab a few pieces to take home…but when I got back to my hotel room I realized it was pointless because as I took off my boots loads of confetti spilled out…there was that much lol. I would compare it to a blizzard.
Anyways, Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun finished singing, thanked us and then disappeared back under the stage all to quickly and the show was already over! I think it only lasted about a half an hour =( but it was worth every second. Immediately after they disappeared, their Ayyy Girl music video began to play on the screen and even though everyone was tired, many stuck around to watch that too. I have to admit, I wasn’t a big fan of the music video or even this album in general until I heard them sing it live and now I can’t get enough of it.
Everyone slowly made their way out (most in a daze), said their goodbyes to their new found Cassie friends and then went in their own directions. I’ve always loved how well Cassies work together but being there and meeting new Cassies in person made me feel really happy because all of these people were so different and might not have ever talked before but we all became friends because of our love for these boys. I think the boys should be proud that they and their music have the power to unite people.
Anyways, my mom who was standing in the back during the concert proceeded to tell me that one girl fainted, another girl got knocked over from the craziness and another was throwing up because she couldn’t handle it! Poor girls, I hope they enjoyed the show anyways! But this is the effect JYJ has lol
I had to hang around for a few minutes to get something and the two hosts happened to come by and were taking pictures with a few people! I was lucky enough to get one. They were both so nice!
Yoochun looked REALLY good in person…I mean, he always looks good but he just looked…AMAZING that night! Jaejoong and Yoochun’s dancing really seemed improved too, I bet they’ve been taking lessons. And overall, our boys just owned it!!! Even for the people who may not like the cd, I swear, if you hear them singing it live you’ll change your mind! They’re absolutely amazing and their voices sounded even better than they do in recordings.
It was absolutely an amazing show! My only regret is that our poor boys had to pay for it themselves! Hopefully we can do something to show them how much we appreciate it.
