Yuletide reveal! [NEWSFLESH] [FIC] "Shadows Thrown By Lightning"
For Yuletide I wrote a treat for 
kouredios! I really lucked out with her prompts. ^_^ See, a few years ago she'd requested a meta Newsflesh fic where the Fictional characters (that is, the subset of bloggers whose contributions are stories and poetry and such) write (but don't publish) RPF about other characters--the obvious choice being secret!incest!fic! about Georgia and Shaun, who are, of course, uncomfortably close by most people's standards, and would be perfect fodder for that sort of thing.
The prompt piqued my interest at the time, but nothing came of it then, so it sat percolating at the back of my head. And then this year she resurrected it, and I pounced. *^^* I could hardly pass up an excuse to use a tag like "fictional Fictionals writing Real Person Fiction about other fictional people".
This isn't the first time I've written third-person POV for Newsflesh (some of my AU WsIP use it), but it's the first third-person piece I've finished in the fandom. Turns out this bit of subterfuge wasn't enough to throw
kouredios off. *g*
So! This is pre-series, set not long after Buffy starts working with Georgia and Shaun as the third person in their triple-threat blogging team (Newsie, Irwin, Fictional), back when she and Maggie are still dating. (They are no longer an item by the time Feed begins.)
wildpear betaed for me, and the title is from Tom McRae's "Expecting the Rain". (I prefer this version, with additional vocals by The Cadbury Sisters, to the album version.)
