First, a signal boost:
Sparkler Monthly just launched their Year Three Kickstarter!
Part of why it feels like we've been in Toronto for much longer than a couple of days so far is obviously just that we've been away from home for almost a week already, but Ottawa already feels like it was ages ago. And I can't post much about the Ottawa visit, because K prefers that I not talk about them much online.
But Ottawa was good! I'm really glad we went, and as a side note, I'm really pleased to report that our stay there was a very successful trial run in terms of
scruloose staying in a home with non-hypoallergenic cats, now that he's on the maintenance dose of the desensitization shots. K's cats aren't allowed in the guest room, which was obviously a factor, but
scruloose hung out with them a lot, making fast friends and petting them extensively, and he was fine. So that's fantastic, and really good to know.
We also got to hang out with their ball python (still fairly small--only a couple feet long), which was a lot of fun. *^^*
It was a low-key visit, which I appreciated while we were there and appreciate even more now that we're in Toronto, which is anything BUT low-key. Having two wedding ceremonies to attend effectively knocks two days out of the planning (which is fine, obviously), but it's throwing me off some. ^^; And of course Ginny's in the final stages of getting ready to move--we pick up and load the moving truck a week from today!
The weather has been amazing so far--sunny, and warm verging on hot, but not sweltering. That changes this weekend, with a rainfall warning in effect, but I've been enjoying the bright, warm days while we've had them!
There has been...a lot of shopping. A lot. Toronto is where I do most of my shopping ordinarily anyway, and with the moving truck coming our way...yeah. That's probably a whole 'nother post.
I miss the kittens horribly, but the friend who's staying with them sends us lots of pictures, which helps. Although all those pics of Jinksy's belly just begging for a thorough petting, or for having a face buried in it, is also kinda harsh. ^_- (Not really, obviously.) And last night we were at
shiroiko and her Jason's place, and got to pet their very social cat a lot, and at one point when I went upstairs their shyer cat ventured out and let me say hi briefly.
A fairly mild headache has been following me around. I'm grateful that it's been negligible, but I also wish it'd GO AWAY.
Random thing from our friends group here: I'd forgotten that
shiroiko has declared the collective noun for "Jasons" to be "a confusion of Jasons", and I'm delighted all over again. (Also, it's so very true. But I can't even say "too many Jasons!", because the three we have [one of whom is in Ottawa and has been declared fictional by Ginny, who's never managed to meet him] are all great.)
And this isn't trip-related at all, but Twitter just now told me about the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage, which is long-overdue but wonderful news, and seems like a good note to end on. *^^*
