An idle thought and resulting tangents

Dec 11, 2013 23:58

I don't know why the thought of adding strangers to my reading list because of overlapping interests makes me quite so nervous, given how many awesome people I've met that way over the years. But there it is.

This thought brought to you--this time, for lo, it recurs frequently--by my checking the tags over at
fandom_stocking to see what fandoms people love enough to request them...and then being sad because I already have bigger writing ambitions than I can probably pull off before Yuletide. ^^;

Tangentially: it's not over 'til it's over, of course, but the word is that Casual Job wraps up tomorrow. This makes it at least feasible that I can finish the fiction I want to. (Also helpful: only having one rewrite deadline right now. It is, naturally, due Christmas Eve.) And it means I can finally make actual progress on the "what shall I talk about?" meme, which is exciting.

There could even be--dare I say it--Christmas baking. It could happen! I could conceivably break in the "new" bundt pan! (Scare quotes because I bought it in, um...May. After yearning for it for a couple of years.) And since my mom recently had her knee replaced, I doubt she'll be up for doing much baking of her own, so making extra in order to supplement her supply would give me an excuse to make as many kinds of cookies (or closer to it than usual, anyway) as I tend to want to.

(I love baking in theory, but I get to it rarely these days. And it's just me and
scruloose, so making heaps of cookies doesn't really make sense, especially since many of our friends also bake plenty of things. If only that kept me from coming up with lists of five to ten recipes I'd like to make.)
