Planning the kittens' first Christmas

Dec 10, 2013 00:07

I finally got around to going through
scruloose's "recent" kitten photos (I think any from the last three weeks are still on Spencer [camera]) and sorting out my favorites. Hopefully I'll get some uploaded soon! But in the meantime, I've finally made a few icons in which Claud and Jinksy are older than a month four months or so. Look! Aren't they gorgeous?

[EDIT: When I posted I was thinking "in which they've lived with us for longer than a month or so." ^^;]

(
februaryfour's request for the "tell me what you want me to blog about!" meme was "kitties!" I may even make an effort to learn to embed photos for the occasion when I write that one. ^_^)

This weekend a lot of our local group of friends piled into cars and went out to our now-traditional cut-your-own tree place. ^_^ For Kittens' First Christmas, we chose a smaller tree than usual, largely because we plan to use no breakable ornaments and thus will have a much smaller selection to draw from. We haven't done any decorating of the house at all yet, and may not really do it--so many of our non-tree decorations (and we don't have a huge number) are breakable or involve candles. (It might be fun to light up the candle-driven angel chimes to see what the kittens think, though!) But we'll see what happens.

Ginny named the tree this year! We went with one of her two suggestions, and thus his name is Hardison. Kas decided to use the other name for his: Swanson the Christmas tree!

We haven't done anything with Hardison yet other than put him in his stand to let the branches settle and let the kittens get used to him. So far they've made no attempts to climb him! It's a good start. Hopefully by the time I get home from work tomorrow (tomorrow and Wednesday I have unusually early start times for Casual Job!)
scruloose will have the lights up, and Kas is coming over at some point, and then we can decorate.

I dream of photos of the kittens exploring or being framed by the colorful lights. I mentioned this dream to Kas, who said, thoughtfully, that he has just the lens for that. *^^*
