After about 25 hours on the road (with Kas and
scruloose doing all the driving, since I don't drive), we made it safely home from Toronto. It might've been a bit faster if we hadn't stopped in Montreal to meet a friend for supper at
Restaurant Bombay (which for a few years I've always referred to as my favorite Indian restaurant, but having now had it again for the first time since Dhaba Express opened in Halifax, I think Dhaba beats it. How convenient!) and to pick up brownies and truffles at
Juliette et Chocolat.
It was less of a detour to swing by the only remaining Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop in Ontario and buy a couple of hand-packed pints, since Kas brought along a cooler in case we made that particular side trip. I still have most of the ice cream that we bought during
Operation Ice Cream Sunday, but how could I not stock up a little more Chocolate Therapy when we were that close?
Those detours were worthwhile, IMO, but spending the bulk of 25 hours in a car is still exhausting. I dozed enough that I feel like I shouldn't be so tired, but I'm bone-weary and scratchy-eyed. Between that and a couple of impending freelance deadlines, I've opted to not go back to Casual Job until next week (since the time-sensitive work is finished, leaving me with four weeks of work at reasonable hours while we wrap things up). Sleep and rewriting strike me as sensible priorities.
I've mostly kept up with my online reading, other than Tumblr (fear the Tumblr catch-up!), but am behind on comments and emails and all that good stuff that's required for actual communication. If I seem to have missed anything time sensitive, let me know!
