First, a link:
an AnimeNewsNetwork editorial in the form of an open letter to the industry, regarding fansubs/digital downloads, their effect on sales, fandom's apparent attitude toward them, and how the industry should rethink its own approach before it goes the way of the music labels. It's a good read. (And there's resounding agreement over at
AnimeOnDVD.)

Mostly unrelated, but I'm trying to decide whether to watch Razor (the new Battlestar Galactica TV movie that aired last night) in the next few days, or whether to wait until I get the DVD. I really want to see it ASAP, but since the disc is coming out in just over a week it might be worth it to hold off for the shiny newness of it. *torn* (Razor is possibly the most guilt-free download ever, since I wasn't in a position to watch the broadcast, and there's no way I won't be buying it immediately.)
Catching up on other domestic shows is coming along. I'm caught up on Chuck (which I'm continuing to enjoy), five eps. into Bionic Woman (as I'd heard, Katee Sackhoff is its one redeeming feature, but she's really good at it ^^), and just over halfway through S2 of Supernatural. (Alas, we haven't gotten to Pushing Daisies yet, because Chris wants to try it too, and I want to finish catching up on SPN before we start something else together.)
The episode of SPN we watched this afternoon was a nice change of pace from yesterday's--yesterday we got to see the show try to do the funny, quirky sort of episode The X-Files used to kick ass at...and SPN may very well be the second coming of X-F in terms of its staff, but if that ep. was anything to go by, that humorous knack was not passed down to the next generation. -_- But today we got to see Tricia Helfer in a guest spot, and that was much more enjoyable. I have a huge amount of respect for her work on BSG (partly due to how much I loathed her character at the beginning, and how much depth she brought to the role), and it was nice to see her on something else. (Somewhat amusingly, I recognized her by her cheekbones. I knew she wears a wig for BSG, but even so it took a few minutes to be sure it was her.)
