As usual when I haven't posted for a little while...a mishmash!

As the reasonable impression of radio silence I've been doing (on this account) may suggest, I haven't been having a lot of geeky thoughts lately. Except that's not technically true. I've been freelancing, which is plenty geeky, but the idea of discussing it online still feels a little weird. (Status of the freelancing: my first project is due in stores in less than a month [!!!], my second was recently handed in, and the third is waiting on some mail. Cross-border postal/courier service is not nearly as speedy as you might suppose, given how our culture likes to brag about its technology.)

Most of the manga I've read lately has been via the library, which usually means "series I'm vaguely interested in following, but haven't really clicked with." On top of that, I've been checking out Runaways (five volumes in, and the next two arrived), which I'd been idly meaning to get around to for quite a while. Now that I've finally gotten around to it, I'm really liking it--it stands on its own, has very smart writing (looking forward to when Joss' stint starts), and refers back to the more traditional Marvel titles in ways that work for me. Power Pack reference! Power Pack was my very first comic series, when I was about eight. *g* And through that, I have a soft spot for Cloak & Dagger, although I don't know if I ever read their series (various mini series? I don't even know). And a Gen X connection, and a New Warriors connection...and I'll stop now, since I imagine it's now painfully obvious that I was reading all the series that never really made it big. (I liked X-Factor. And the [pre-Cable, or really, pre-X-Terminators] New Mutants. Sue me.)

My brain seems to finally be unclogging and reluctantly letting some words out, although not in any great quantity. I've got a very short 30_kisses fic to put out tomorrow or Thursday, and nothing else close to completion, but I still feel a lot better than I have for a few months. ^_^ (*knocks wood*)

I still haven't read past chapter one of Hoshi wa Utau. I think I'm saving it, but I'm not sure what for. A rainy day? I do know I'm really looking forward to it. ^^

And here, have some random links 'n' stuff:

Over here we have a post-series (and spoilery), Yuki-centric Furuba fic. (Which I found by following the author's link from fruits_basket, so many of you will already have seen the link, but if you skim fic links as much as I usually do, go back and take a look at this one. I really liked it.)

For any Saiyuki fans who don't read telophase, she posted a sketch of Goku and Konzen from Gaiden, as part of a meme.

On the music front, Undented.com linked to this video of a guitarist doing a cover of Tori's "Little Earthquakes". And I randomly uploaded three songs (change 'xx' to 'tt' when following the links): this is Storm Large covering the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind" (Storm is a singer andora really likes, so she made me a CD while I was in Toronto, and I think I may have to go make a music purchase. This is a woman with a powerhouse voice), and these are two Tom McRae b-sides-- Black Heart Rodeo and A Thousand Suns.
