I need something to distract myself from the current LJ fiasco, and the "pick a line from current works in progress" meme is going around again; I thought at first I hadn't written enough new things since the last time I did this (the second time, almost a year ago >.>), but it looks like it should be fine. *pokes into folders*
(...also, I just found the first time I did it, and it had a line from the X/Tsubasa fusion. In 2004. I really should finish that. But at least I can make sure I don't use the same line again...)

"Was he gentle with you, little Dragon?" He turned her onto her stomach and spread his hands over the bones of her back, mimicking wings. "You're still a dragon under your skin. We're just going to give back your claws."

Three totally unconnected bits, since I've been baiting Parron with this one for so long. One for each series involved. ^^
Inside, he followed them down the twisting hallways to see which door was about to be closed to him, and Yuuko took pity on him as the girl went into the darkened workroom she indicated. "That is the Hidden Maiden of Ise shrine, Watanuki. Take a good look. You'll never see her kind again."

The clarity and chronology of the dream skewed, his blood pouring out of the gaping hole she could feel in his back, pooling in the folds of her skirt; it trickled steadily from the corners of his mouth while he spent his last energy whispering to her.

"The place seems real empty all of a sudden, huh?" Sorata glanced around the empty room that had so recently overflowed with visitors.
"Destiny has to be followed," Arashi murmured, smoothing the folded futon with one hand. She sat back on her heels and fixed him with a wry look. "And grammar, Sorata. If your students' parents heard you, they'd be appalled."
"Do you miss it?" He caught the flicker of amusement in her eyes. "Destiny, O love of my life. Not my grammar."

Fruits Basket (These are all post-series, so spoiler warnings are in effect. Currently the theory on post-series work is that I'm writing short, [loosely] interconnected stories instead of one long piece. These are roughly chronological, and all untitled, and there are no promises that they'll all stay in separate stories...)
This is from a one-page-so-far conversation between Kyo and Haru.
At the time, he hadn't seen them together in years; it was on subsequent occasions that he noticed little things, like the way she was just enough shorter than Haru that her head fit comfortably under his chin.
Rin and Shigure
His hand came to rest on the back of her neck. "Still a good girl from a good family, after everything? Wear what you want and do what you have to, and at the end of the day you can still sit properly and paint and perform the tea ceremony, and maybe still get married to a respectable husband from an appropriate--"
She swore at him then, vicious words that had no place in the mouth of the girl he was describing, and he took his hand away.
For the questionable watermelon fic (probably Kiss theme #19)
"Are you insane?" But she sat up to inspect the melon: small and almost perfectly round, stripes only slightly darker than the rest of the rind. "Since when is that a tradition?"
"Since Hinata-chan."
This line probably won't survive in this form, which makes me sad 'cause I like it. So here it is.
No longer bound by the curse, she is free to touch anyone she chooses, and she chooses to touch no one.
