Not quite from the phone

So I’ve figured the best way to post stuff to LJ while I’m at work is to type it out in an email, send it to myself, then copy and paste it into the app on my phone. I’m not going to type this much using a phone keyboard. It’s too exasperating.

Had three beers Tuesday at Flying Saucer trivia (took first!) and then 3 more last night at the Pearl Bar gig. That’s already too many for the week. Luckily, the rest of the weekend should be fairly dry.

Facebook really is getting annoying. And it’s all the usual clichés that bother me. The observation from some comedian (usually George Carlin) passed off like it’s indisputable ancient wisdom… the affirmation pasted onto some pretty nature scene that’s usually just another way of assuring the user that everything he/she thinks about everything is the right way to think about it. Ugh. And don’t even get me started on the politics. I dropped out of the nonsense that passes for debate on FB over a year ago. Links here and there are one thing, but the godawful sanctimony just drives me nuts. It’s why I had to block one, and only one so far, feed entirely. I know I used to dump all that stuff here just to get it out of my system, but I assumed it was safe because nobody's on here anymore. Still, too much, “This is just THE way to think and if you deviate slightly, you’re a moron.” I realize I’m much happier if I just don’t engage. Which is why I totally bailed on my own Duck Dynasty post. People losing their minds. And they never even got that my point, as it has been all along with my Kony 2012 joke, has nothing to do with politics per se, but the “slacktivism” that so many people engage in. “Hey, I reposted a link from the Huffington Post that says we should all do something. Let’s everybody post that link about doing something! Then maybe somebody somewhere will somehow do something about it and I can take the credit for it. I’ve contributed to society!”

Still, there’s no better way to stalk the folks you went to high school with…
