Kurt's got the right idea. But you also have to be more aggressive in calling potential employers back. Usually, I would wait a day or two, then call them back to see how things are going. Showing that sort of initiative might be the difference between getting hired and not getting hired.
Does Bulldog have a local office, or one nearby? Maybe a visit in person might net you results, if you're having a hard time over the phone or online...?
Yeah , I think one of my drawbacks as far as persueing a job, is that I am very shy and pretty passive, so i find it hard (no matter how enthusiastic i am) to chase the job up and really persue it like that.
as far as bulldog goes.. i think the may only have offices in england... possibly wales. They dont really seem to give any of their locations out :/
Do you have a friend who could maybe do the callbacks for you? Sorta say, "I'm calling for , in regards to a recent position available at your place of business."
As for Bulldog, try this: Write out a physical letter (not email), and send it to their snail mail address. Explain the situation, and how you feel you're not getting headway with the phones. Tell them you think you've been overbilled, and you wish something to be done about it. Leave them your phone number so they can have someone knowledgable call you back. It may be a bit slower to get to them, but if you're being stymied by phone...
hmm. bulldog seem perfectly capable at receiving mail when it contains cheques fot them, but totally incapable when it contains either letters of complaint or direct debit mandates, in my past experiences =\
yeah I was thinking that :/ Though its mostly been jamie dealing with them (poor thing) I shall ahve to relay some info about it to him) I suppose calling them is the best way we can get in touch, assuming we get through. I am actually tempted to contact watchdog and see if they have any suggestions.

Yeah, I am about to see if he's up for it, just hope he'll have the time. And the thing about snail mail is Im worried that by the time they get the letter and bother to read that we will already be cut off and then we wont have phone either *to my knowlede* as it was all a package deal from them :P
the latter's a good argument for not putting all one's utility eggs in one basket, despite their "ooh you can save £10 per year if you get x AND y from us". if someone fucks up with phone/internet/leccy/gas/cake, none of the others are affected. :)
