have you tried claiming benefits? even if not JSA or whatever it's called today, there are other benefits for people on low incomes.

And also, I am curious, since youre a clever and seem knowledgeable in many things, do you happen to know if there are any agencies that could help people find jobs in cleaning? (I have plenty experience and find it a good/easy job to do and actually kind of like it) :P

Call JB Staff Employment Agency [01314479530], or drop by in person on 115 Comiston Road. They do mainly nursing home cleaning at decent rates, and will probably hire you pretty damned quick with a couple of good references.

it may be a good idea to follow up with a phone call, asking if they mind you dropping by the office. The personal touch goes an awful long way.

housing and council tax benefits are purely based on your income/savings, iirc ( ... )

I heard that you can get teh DHSS to pay your rent if you're unemployed (they don't need to know you're an artist)

Or atleast thats what my mum said to meh.

yeah, that's housing benefit. it's not related to whether you're unemployed, but you usually apply for it at the same time as the dole.
