Hi All,
I just wanted to do a quick mention of a charity I'm supporting called Community Servings.
As New England's expert in home-delivered nutrition for the critically ill, Community Servings provides meals to the acutely ill, their families, and their caregivers. Their clients live in 16 cities and towns throughout eastern Massachusetts and battle over 20 different types of illnesses, including HIV/AIDS, breast and other cancers, and kidney disease.
Thanks to a dedicated group of donors and volunteers, Community Servings is extremely cost-efficient: it costs just $25 to prepare and deliver a week's worth of nutritious and comforting meals to a sick client.
Start off the holiday season with Pie in the Sky and help neighbors in need! Buy a scrumptious apple, pecan, pumpkin, or sweet potato pie, and pick it up on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at over 45 locations throughout Eastern Massachusetts. For $25, the cost of a single pie, Community Servings will be able to provide a week's worth of free, home-delivered meals for a man, woman or child who is battling a critical illness such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes or MS.
Now entering its 17th year, Pie in the Sky involves more than 150 of Greater Boston's best chefs, bakers and caterers donating their time, talent and resources to provide our pie buyers with delicious Thanksgiving Pies. Equally amazing, 450 volunteers - individuals, corporations, churches and synagogues, schools and social clubs - work hard throughout the fall to sell, organize and distribute more than 10,000. Last year, the sale raised $380,000 to support Community Servings' meals and nutrition program for the critically ill, and we can't wait to do it even bigger and better this year!
