school & city

☆ ULTIMA HIGH SCHOOL
The main school building itself is much like your typical high school, with the compulsory on-campus residence turning it into a rather odd but interesting mix of a public school and a boarding school. It covers a very large area and consists of a few hundred classrooms, laboratories, lecture theatres, and offices over (7) floors, which are accessible via stairs, escalators, or elevators. The main hallways are lined with pure white, double-sized, full-length lockers, with drinking fountains and assorted vending machines scattered throughout.

Surrounding the main building are vast, meticulously trimmed fields set up for various sporting and extracurricular purposes, as well as a tree-lined area on the east side with picnic tables dedicated to students wishing to eat lunch, do their homework, or simply relax outside in the sun. A white cobblestone pathway lavishly accompanied by water fountains and exotic flora leads from the northeast corner of the school towards the dormitories, not further than a moderate two- or three-minute walk away.

The architecture of the main and residence buildings is modern with a few classic touches, taking on everything from elaborate archways to skylights, and composed mostly of white marble and Tyndall Stone.

☆ ON-CAMPUS RESIDENCE
  • For the students, there are (2) houses named OBLIVION and OATHKEEPER, each contained in separate buildings for males and females respectively, and requiring keycard access. For staff, there is a special separate building for living quarters named FENRIR. Each house dormitory has (15) floors, and each floor is divided into (10) rooms.
    • Room numbers alternate across the hall-odd numbers along one wall, and even numbers along the other.
    • Only students within the same grade will be placed in dormitories together, unless special circumstances permit otherwise.
  • All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms. However, there are communal showers/washrooms at the end of the hall on every floor.

  • There is a large space on the main floor of each building to be used as a common room, with an attached kitchen for students wishing to make their own meals and snacks at any time. Pots, pans, and other necessary kitchenware is included, while special cooking and baking ingredients are not. This area, like the dormitories, is expected to be kept clean by the students, but will be maintained by cleaning staff on Monday mornings.

  • There are (10) payphones in the lobby of each building, and long distance calling cards may be purchased from the cafeteria. Cellular phones are permitted to be used throughout campus, except during class.

  • Each room comes with the following:
    • (2) beds - twin, bedding not included
    • (1) walk-in closet - 6' x 7' x 10', hangers and shoeracks included
    • (2) desks - mahogany, 3 drawers and 1 overhead cupboard
    • (2) bedside stands - 3 drawers, table lamps
    • (2) trunks - mahogany, 4' x 2' x 2'
    • (2) laptop computers - Wi-Fi, OS to be specified on application form (included in tuition fee, optional if student already owns a personal computer)
  • Students are expected to keep their rooms clean throughout the term, and may be subjected to unannounced inspections by their Residence Advisor (RA).

☆ RADIANT GARDEN, DESTINY ISLANDS
Radiant Garden, the host city of Ultima High School, is situated on the southernmost island in an archipelago named Destiny Islands, a fair ways off the western coast of Canada and under the jurisdiction of the province of British Columbia. Destiny Islands is very similar in topography and climate to its sister archipelago further south, and as such, is often referred to by non-residents as the "Canadian Hawaii."

The city, which is around 5km north of the school, is typically accessible via car, train*, or the long, scenic bicycle path that runs all over the island, including towards the main beach on the south side.

* Fri-Sun: Radiant Garden Express is free of charge to students of Ultima High School. Student ID is required. Mon-Thu: Standard student fare applies.
