Chapter 3

So driving with Jodi and the girls back from Tioga tonight.. we are in their van, waiting for the girls to buckle up and Jodi told the girls one of their doors was still open (yes all this back story is necessary damn it! lol). I said something like don't you have a little diagram that tells you what is open, where? She said no, only if the back hatch was open.. After mentioning the diagram it made me remember a time back in Minnesota with our (birth) dad, Jim, back in the day.. probably like 1985-7 - somewhere around then. Anyway, my dad had a red pickup, I don't remember what kind, but the thing I remember is that it had a diagram.. wait, maybe it was his car that had the diagram. See, now I can't remember. I guess the point is that my dad had a diagram that showed which door was open and where or what was going on (i.e. washer fluid, yadda yadda), and I just thought that was the coolest thing ever. I really wanted one. I knew I HAD to have a car that did that someday.
That is a really happy memory to remember tonight. I'm glad to add it to my "happy memoir" vibe I have goin' on here.
How random of a thing to think about. And yes, although I hadn't remembered this for the past 20-odd years, I have had a little diagram in a few cars now. Granted it doesn't tell me when my washer fluid is out (dang it all anyway), I am happy to have eventually accomplished such a task set out subconsciously by a 5 year old me.
How rad am I.

random, happy, life, dad
