Brief Leipzig WGT update
Well I'm back of sorts....and I so wish I wasn't....I've missed the Sunday/Monday of the festival and i feel half cheated. On the other hand the lack of sleep probably would have caught up with me. I made a 9am, a 5am and a no am this morning....As it just didn't seem worth going to bed when I had to be up early (8am) for a flight back.
Did I enjoy it. Hell Yes. Will I be back. Definitely. Would I recommend it. Wholeheartedly to anyone in the scene, you really need to do this at least once....and if you manage just once, it would surprise me. A great friendly atmosphere, stunning variety, so multi-cultural and anything goes.
My only personal down side is my lack of German, or any other language....No you don't need to speak it and everyone is very helpful, however there are all those people and conversations to be had and a bit of confidence in the language would certainly help. I think I'm going to do something I never thought I would and actually try and improve my language skills, German first, then maybe French, I'll look at taking over the world next Tuesday...
While the flight out was fun with friends and a half Goth aeroplane is a sight, coming back i shared it with most of the UK bands....Skeletal Family, Claudia Pavonis, Sigue Sigue Sputnik (well, Martin Degavile) and A odd but rather friendly brightly coloured band from the Goth Pogo Party. Also saw Fields of the Nephilim land....I guess having the one flight each day can be a bonus too.
