I used my lunch break to finish watching Kimi wa Petto episode 3 (how can they end the episode like that?! Gah!), and True Love 18 episode 1.
True Love 18 is one of those old twdramas (2002 is old in twdrama-land) that very few people have seen. Up until recently it hasn't been subbed.
I was interested in seeing it because it was Ariel Lin's first drama. But also; Joseph Chang is in it (his first drama as well)!
Anyway, from the first episode it looks QUITE promising. It's touching on one of my major kinks; teacher/student. And it's actually two student/teacher relationships...
So far Ariel is adorable as per usual. She looks SO YOUNG despite being 20-21 in it. The main male protagonist, Shi Yi Nan, is someone I'd never seen before. I like him though. He looks vaguely like... someone. Maybe Vanness, I'm not sure. Anyway, he was also in Diary of Sex and the City with Cheryl Yang (CHERYL YANG!).
Yi Nan and Ariel's relationship seems to be the focus of the show, but there is a major secondary relationship happening between another teacher and Ariel's friend. It's going to be cute; Ariel's friend is kinda a prostitute (literally, she get calls from dudes, and has sex with them for money.... thus she is a prostitute), and the teacher is sweet and gentle, and kinda dorky. I love relationships where the girl is the experienced initiator.
I'm not sure what Joseph is doing as of yet, but whatever, he's hot. He can stand around doing nothing and it'd still add to the show.
It's pretty sad though. Xu Wei Lun plays the prostitute girl, and I know everytime I see her I'm going to be sad (in case you're not up on your tw-stars, Xu Wei Lun was killed in a car accident two years ago. She was only 28 at the time). It was the same for me watching Lee Un in Coffee Prince.
Also! Lin Mei Xiu plays Ariel's alcoholic mother, which is pretty awesome. I love Lin Mei Xiu... she's in everything, and she always goes a great job (she plays Cheryl's mother in My Queen... jeez, there's a lot of Cheryl connections here, which naturally means I'm getting good vibes. I ♥ Cheryl tons). This was her first drama too!
