My co-worker’s fiancée brought in these things called wrapples today to work. They make them at the Huntington General Store - delicious. If you’ve never had one, you should - they are kind of like an apple pie in a wrap. They also come in different flavors like blueberry ... normal pie flavors, I guess. Anyway, I asked what I should have for lunch and he told me that the radio station next door to where I work was having some kind of picnic and they were giving away hamburgers. So, around 1:30 I was pretty famished and I decided to go to the library by way of the radio station to see if I could snag myself some free lunch. I walked over and it looked more like a staff picnic or something, but I made the decision anyway to check it out and say hi. I asked if it was a work picnic and they said that it was and we talked briefly about how they do cool stuff a lot and that my lawyers never do anything cool. I told them to have fun and went on my way. Well, one of the guys calls after me, “Hey - you want a burger?” so I stopped and asked how long they were going to be around and they said that they were going to clean up soon and that they had extra food, so I took them up on their offer. I had a great 15 minute conversation with three of them about what they do at work - including an in depth conversation about monkey sounds - and how I work to sue people that steal cable and satellite television. One of the guys wanted to interview me, but I turned him down because I always come out sounding stupid or I say really dumb things. I did, however, convince him that he should interview my boss because he is a lawyer by day and he has his own band at night. So, I got his e-mail to give to my boss. It was pretty cool - I met some neat people and got a free burger.
All of this was coming after I made out a monthly budget and realized that I have about $5 worth of spending money per month. I think that I am seriously going to have to quit Diet Coke (except on the weekends) and go with tea for my caffeine fix again. I know I should anyway because it is more paleo (oh, like a hamburger is paleo?).
I also had a difficult time at the library finding the Frontier House CD. After about 15 minutes of searching, through the CDs I finally asked the woman at the desk where the heck the CD was (through more intelligent conversation) and she told me it was in the children’s section. WHAT? Honestly, the music is folk - guitar, fiddle, some vibes/marimba ... but it definitely has the folk feel. The other thing that I was thinking is that Frontier House wasn’t exactly a children’s show. I mean, they talked about condoms and sex on the show! Silly Heather, condoms are for kids!
