So last night...
Scarlet: the opening band thinks they're the headliners. They have a flashy sign that lights up and says "scarlet" but they don't use the club's lighting, only the sign and two bright work lights. The singer starts off by doing some twisted version of a pole dance. My overall concensus was that he wanted to be Every Time I Die. They weren't. They had some cool breakdowns, but they were a little sloppy. I'm considering buying the CD, but probably won't unless I get a lot of money some time.
Black Dahlia Murder: Very good, pretty tight, sickeningly fast drummer, pretty funny. The singer was a fat guy with nerd glasses and he screamed either high or low, and when it was low, he looked like he was trying to summon demons of some sort. He probably was. Their music was good at times, stupid at others. They tried really hard to be faster than they should have tried to be. Overall, not a bad performance.
As I Lay Dying: Here's where the show got good. As I Lay Dying was amazing. They opened with 94 Hours, which was awesome. The double bass was insane. Every song they played was wicked tight and just awesome. This is also where the moshing got dangerous. I almost died. But it was fun. They closed with Forever, and they threw a new song in there that was awesome with a sick ending. They were the best that far by far.
Every Time I Die: Here's where it got crazy. They opened with Floater, my favorite song. "Drag the lake, you'll find it's full of love" made everyone go insane and the crowd diving started. Not only was the mosh pit the size of the entire club (when I say mosh pit, I mean the most intense mosh pit I've ever seen, not like at Five Iron or POD show, but a real mosh pit, for those of you faint of heart), but there was a constant flow of people diving off the stage or running across the shoulders of the fans in the front (of which I was one, but luckily against the speaker to that I did not get killed). I only get kicked in the head twice, a pretty good ratio all things considered. I think I fared better than Todd on the whole, he was hurting from a hard blow to the back of his skull. Anyways, they played the entire new CD as well as a new song (which sounded much like their older songs) and The Logic of Crocodiles, and A Night Out On the Town. Insane performance. Overall, an awesome show. Now it's off to Norma Jean, Underoath, Beloved on Saturday.
On the Topic of Biscotti, I don't think it should be served on airplanes as it's cracker-like nastiness is not appropriate for breakfasting consumption needs. That is my opinion.
End.
