Creating a live journal is probably no sweat to most people, but it is to a technologically-impaired dumbo like me. Gosh, I never thought I'd see the day when I would do any other thing on my computer aside from email and/or Microsoft Word. Well, aside from the dreadful boredom that's gradually permeating my very being as a result of the summer break, it is because of my beloved cousin that I'm doing this. Snail mail can be such a pain and emails contain only so much information. And honestly, it is a relief to be able to hav an excuse to write again. I know writers don't need to have an excuse to write, but pardon this delinquent wannabe. I guess that is the real impediment to my writing...I am such a lazy bum that I have to have a reason for writing or else I would never get to finish anything. All my thoughts are swimming in my head or banished to my trusty notebook, yet very few actually come to fruition.
Anyway, today was a disappointingly mundane experience, despite my initial confusion about how to set up this thing. I had to type in an unbelievable number of usernames before I finally got approved. Well whatever, then the spam robot test wouldn't quite work out, I had to try and retry. Anyway, all's well that ends well I guess.
I just finished Memoirs of a Geisha, and I liked it. The prose might initially seem one-dimensional, but I think that was intentional, to give out a Japanese-feeling. Despite its seemingly flat style of writing, it was rich in context. The style was very smooth and the transitions couldn't have been done better. It manages to capture the reader's imagination and empathy even though most people don't even have the minutest idea about what a geisha's life is really like.
Well, that's it for now. Will update the soonest. :)
