Summary: At the Night of the Party, Puck doesn't sleep with Quinn, Rachel does.
As the weeks passed until the final tenth week, Quinn had counted nonstop marking off each day on her 'Cheerio' calendar that Sue Sylvester had given them. Each of the key Cheerio's graced the cover of one month. So luckily for her this was Quinn's month. She snorted in remembrance and shook her head. Oh it definitely was her month alright.
She remained quiet to most crawling into some sort of anti-social bubble, besides hanging out with Santana and Brittany of course. Quinn hadn't spoken to Rachel after the bathroom incident, but she was beginning to let the ice warm up off of her shoulder gradually, only for the fact that Rachel was the 'father' to her baby, but it didn't mean she had to 'talk' to her. Quinn even went as so far as yelling at some football Jock who slushied Rachel and threatened to castrate him with her bare bands, Quinn blamed it on her hormones.
Quinn quit the Cheerio's all together, throwing her uniform in Sue Sylvester's face telling her to shove it. Okay, so that had been the pregnancy hormones talking (really) and the only reply she got from Sue was. 'When that demon fetus comes out, you come talk to me.' Followed by a disturbing wink. Quinn couldn't help but wonder how in the hell Sue Sylvester found out and no one else had. Well, Puck had and that surely had been a fun conversation to say in the least.
Quinn flinched slightly as a lunch tray slammed down in front of her. She looked up slowly coming face-to-face with Puck who ever so kindly had a smug grin on his face. "What do you want?" She asked, slowly and cautiously. Puck sat down and shrugged.
"I just want to know how she did it." Puck said the grin not leaving his face. Quinn tensed up but her face remained impassive. Crap, Crap, Crap was all that went through her head.
"I... I don't know what you are talking about." She replied and waved him off taking a bite out of her saltine cracker, the only thing she could eat without throwing up. She desperately hoped that Puck would get the hint to just drop it and leave. Puck just laughed and shook his head, getting comfortable in his chair, leaning back and resting his arm on the back of it.
"I think you do." He said and leaned in, looking around cautiously. "How did Berry knock you up?" If Quinn could kill with a look Puck would have died, been resurrected and died slowly, and painfully, again.
"Excuse me?" Quinn arched an eyebrow wither her question and crossed her arms over her chest.
"I heard you in the hall a few weeks ago. Well actually followed the both of you hoping to catch onto some hot lesbian action and caught the end of what seemed like an intense conversation. So now I ask again, how did she do it? Because if she's some hermaphrodite then the football team owes me a collective hundred bucks." Puck didn't have time to dodge the saltine cracker that hit him on the forehead, he leaned back again and grunted. "Hermaphrodite, no then?"
"I'm surprised you can say a four syllable word correctly." Quinn replied dryly. "And she isn't, I would know obviously." Puck's smug grin returned and he nodded enthusiastically.
"So you two did hook up, and now you're pregnant?" A nod from Quinn was her answer. "You do realize that it's impossible right."
"So I've been told." Quinn told him calmly. She really wanted to rip his head off but she was beginning to feel that everyone was slowly turning their attention to the two of them. Puck stared at for her a moment before letting a sigh with a small chuckle.
"God, you really think she did this." He said and Quinn nodded. "Why do I have the feeling that I'm going to be believing this very soon?"
"Because it's the truth." Quinn leaned in and sighed. "Before Rachel and I 'hooked up' as you so kindly put it I was a virgin." Puck raised an eyebrow at her and she rolled her eyes but continued. "And now, I'm not a virgin, haven't had sex since that night and I'm pregnant. It's the most illogical, logical explanation there is." She said and went back to her original sitting position away from Puck.
"Ahem." Quinn looked up and saw Santana and Brittany walking over to them. Santana stopped right to the side in the middle between Puck and Quinn. She crossed her arms and stared at Quinn, of course in jealousy. Quinn's eyes moved to Brittany who looked between Santana and Puck before narrowing her eyes just slightly and Puck, staring at him the same way that Santana was staring at her. If Quinn didn't know any better... nah. "Having a fun chat?" Santana asked sarcastically.
Quinn rolled her eyes and sighed. "Not exactly, your boy-toy was just asking me where you were, and now that you are here, there is nothing left to chat about." Santana blinked and looked between Puck and Quinn. She scoffed and shrugged it off.
"Whatever... come on Puck." She said and pulled him up by his collar. Puck took a second and looked at Quinn. She raised an eyebrow and gave him a look that said if he ever told anyone about what he knew, she'd kill him. He nodded at her understandingly and turned around, walking away with Santana.
Quinn looked to Brittany who just stood there with a bored look on her face. "Shouldn't you be going with Santana?" She asked curiously. Brittany shrugged and looked over to Santana and Puck.
"Santana didn't tell me to go with them." She mumbled. Quinn just stared at her blankly before sighing and offering the girl a seat.
Quinn couldn't help but let a small giggle escape her lips as she slammed her locker door shut and walked down to the choir room for their weekly Glee rehearsal. She walked over to Brittany and Santana as usual and sat next to Brittany on the right. Even though she wasn't a Cheerio anymore didn't mean that they weren't her best friends any more. She listened in idly to their very unimportant conversation on the brands of petroleum jelly they applied to their teeth during competitions. Quinn's eyes moved to Rachel who was as usual by the piano with Mr. Scheuster, but she looked different. Her skin wasn't the normally glowing tan color it was (not that Quinn ever looked long enough to determine that) instead it was replaced with a somewhat paler look to her. Quinn brushed it off and wondered if Rachel still remembered that this was the day they'd go in for the paternity test.
Glee rehearsal went on just as normally as it always did. Rachel and Finn got the solo's for an overly sappy song and the rest just stood there, swaying back and forth singing back-up filled with 'Ooh's' and 'Ah's'. But during the song Quinn would catch Rachel's eyes land on her a few times, always at the point where one would think they'd be on Finn and only on Finn. Quinn found this strange but shook it off, continuing to provide the oh-so exciting backing vocals.
After Glee Quinn knew that Rachel was always the last one to leave, even after Scheuster so she made sure to stick around and stay in the back quietly as everyone left. When Mr. Scheuster walked out of the room waving 'goodbye' to both girls, Rachel didn't turn around to Quinn, she stayed almost frozen staring at the door.
"We should... we should head to the doctors now." It was barely audible but Quinn was sure that's what she heard from the shorter girl. Quinn nodded although Rachel couldn't see her and stepped down from the small platform, stopping beside Rachel. "One of my gay dads is an OB/GYN." She said meekly and looked up to Quinn. Quinn was about to say something but Rachel stopped her. "Yeah, I know. I don't understand it either." Quinn shut her mouth and nodded again.
"We'll take my car." Quinn said and started to walk out of the Choir room. Rachel sighed and looked up to the ceiling right before following her.
---
When they pulled up to Rachel's father's practice, neither girl wanted to step out out of the car and take the 'Walk of Fate' as Quinn had thought of it while they were driving there. Quinn heard a gasp come from Rachel and she looked to her right, seeing Rachel dig into her bag for something. It was a thick plastic bag.
"I stole this from my dad the other day, it's a swab so I can take my DNA." Quinn arched an eyebrow upward which Rachel ignored. "I'm not just going to tell my Daddy 'hey can you waste precious lab equipment and tell me if I'm fathering Quinn's baby?'" She said as if it were obvious and swabbed the inside of her cheek. She closed the container and sighed looking to Quinn. "Let's go. Daddy cleared his afternoon for your check up."
"My, check up?" Quinn asked slowly. Rachel nodded.
"Well I doubt you've seen a doctor about your pregnancy right?" Quinn nodded and Rachel shrugged. "Then you need a check up, now come on." She said and exited the car, briskly walking towards the practice. Quinn let out a large sigh before following Rachel in.
Rachel walked up to the receptionist she had familiar with over the years. "Hi Jen." She said brightly. "Is Daddy done with his last patient?" She asked. Quinn dug her hands into her coat pockets and looked around. The place had seemed empty, Rachel must of really made her Dad cancel the appointments.
"Yep, just go right on in to examination room one." Jen told Rachel and handed her a chart. Rachel eyed the char and gave it to Quinn before heading past Jen and into the hall of examination rooms. Quinn followed her scanning the chart, they were simple questions that she'd normally see at her own Doctor's.
Quinn entered the small room with a large chair positioned right in the middle next to a small television screen. Rachel pointed to it and sat herself down on a swivel chair, moving herself back and forth slowly. Quinn sighed and tossed the chart onto the counter and hopped up onto the patient chair. Quinn looked to Rachel, she was paler than when she was at Glee rehearsal. "Are, you okay?" she asked.
Rachel looked up and shrugged, she wasn't really sure what she was feeling at the moment. It was a mixture of anxiousness, fear, and oddly enough hope in a way. "As okay as I'll be at this moment. Is it crazy that I may believe you?" Quinn shook her head and put her hands under her thighs kicking her legs out weakly.
"Listen, I wouldn't make you do this if I wasn't sure." Quinn replied. Rachel sighed and for the first time in a while looked directly into Quinn's eyes. She didn't want to accept it but for some unknown reason she was finding herself believing that she actually had impregnated Quinn. The door opened and a tall, tanned man with incredible bone structure stepped in. Quinn must of just seen Rachel's male version because she was the spitting image of him save the eye and hair color. While the man had dirty blond hair and blue eyes, Rachel had rich chocolate brown hair and eyes to match.
"Hey sweetheart." Mr. Berry said and kissed his daughter on the top of her head. He turned to Quinn and gave her a warm smile. "You must be the Quinn that Rachel doesn't ever stop tal-" Rachel moved her leg out and kicked her father's shin. Mr. Berry turned to Rachel and gave her a warning look before turning back to Quinn. Quinn looked between both Berry's and couldn't help but wonder what Rachel had said to her father's about her. "Anyway. I hear you've got something cooking in the oven."
"Um... yeah. I do." Quinn replied rather quietly and turned to Rachel. Rachel perked up and stood up, handing her father the tube of her DNA, but she'd never tell her father that.
"Quinn is in her tenth week of pregnancy and would very much appreciate it if you performed a pre-natal paternity test. I have uh... the suspected father's DNA sample with me here. He willingly gave us his DNA and wishes to not be present during this time, or ever." Rachel said quickly like she had rehearsed it in front of a mirror a million times before telling her father. Mr. Berry eyed his daughter skeptically and took the tube, placing it in the pocket of his lab coat. He turned to Quinn hoping to find an answer but she just shrugged with a sigh.
"Very well." Mr. Berry replied slowly. "Um, Quinn I'm going to need you to recline backward, I need to take a sample from the placenta." Quinn tensed up. He was going where?! She sighed but did as he told and looked to Rachel. Rachel gave her a sympathetic look and walked to Quinn's side. Quinn watched intently as Mr. Berry got a syringe and other various tools that health class certainly didn't provide the names for. She looked up to the ceiling and took in deep breaths calming her self down.
"It's going to be okay you know." Rachel whispered to her. She grabbed Quinn's hand and squeezed it tight, reassuringly. Quinn looked down at their hands and then to Rachel. Rachel nodded encouragingly and Quinn could've laughed had it not been for the fact that Rachel's father would be going to her 'forbidden zone'. The next few minutes were a blur to Quinn, mindlessly she did as Rachel's father had asked and in between then felt a pinch. Quinn shut her eyes tight at the feeling and felt Rachel's hand squeeze tight onto her's. It was somewhat a relief.
"Alright Quinn, it's over, it'll take three days for the results to come in." The soothing voice of Mr. Berry made Quinn relax. She opened her eyes and adjusted herself, smoothing down her skirt so she looked at least partially decent. "All we need to do is an ultra-sound and make sure that the baby's heartbeat is steady. You're at your tenth week so it should be distinct." Quinn nodded and lifted her shirt up revealing her still toned stomach with only a miniscule bump barely noticeable. Out of the corner of her eye Quinn saw Rachel's tongue run across her lips. Don't even think about it Berry, this is what landed us here in the first place. She thought to herself
The next moment Quinn felt a cold jelly rub across her belly, she squirmed a little then relaxed. She looked up at Mr. Berry who had a playful smile on his face. She narrowed her eyes slightly, that was just a little irritating. She looked to the screen and could barely make it out, but there it was, her baby. Or rather her and Rachel's, even though the results weren't in to confirm it. It was so tiny, but it was hers. "Yep, good steady heartbeat, but it's too early to determine the sex." Mr. Berry's words broke Quinn out of her thoughts. I would think it would be a girl considering no 'Y' chromosome. Quinn thought but smiled at Mr. Berry.
"Thank you Mr. Berry-"
"It's Victor, hun." Victor interrupted Quinn with a smile. Quinn looked down as she felt her cheeks redden slightly.
"I mean, Victor. Thank you so much for helping me. But, I have a question. How much is this going to cost me?" She asked. Victor raised his hand to Quinn, stopping her from going any further.
"It isn't going to cost you a thing. Rachel and I have talked about this already, I'm surprised she hasn't told you." Quinn glanced at Rachel who didn't seem to be paying attention at the moment. "She informed me of the position you are in. Your medical bills are completely." Nothing could stop the tears that flew from Quinn's eyes as she wrapped her arms around Victor, giving him a hug. Victor chuckled and patted Quinn's back before prying himself away gently. "I'll let you get fixed back up." He said with a smile and walked out of the room. Quinn heard a sniffle and snapped her head to Rachel. She was... crying?
"Um... Rachel?" Rachel sniffled one last time and wiped her eyes, removing her eyes from the screen. She looked to Quinn and forced a smile to come out. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Just... I'm fine." Quinn looked at her warily but nodded. She wiped the remaining jelly from her stomach and moved her shirt down. She stood up and smoothed the rest of her clothes out.
"Come on, I'll give you a ride home?" She asked the brunette. Rachel nodded and walked out of the examination room.
When Quinn pulled up to Rachel's house, Rachel didn't leave. For a moment she just stared at the dashboard intently like she was trying to burn a hole through it. "I... I don't think I'm going to be surprised."
"About?" Quinn asked, unbuckling herself and turning her body to face Rachel. Rachel looked up and just sighed.
"When in three days those results say that I'm a match." Quinn let out a low chuckle. Rachel titled her head to the side. "What?"
"After all that, now you believe me?" Rachel shrugged and nodded. Quinn leaned back into the drivers seat and closed her eyes for a moment. "You didn't have to do what you did you know."
"And that would be?"
"Having your father take care of my medical bills." Quinn replied and took to Rachel again. Rachel winced slightly at that and nodded.
"Oh, I forgot about that. I just figured... I mean pre-natal paternity tests cost a lot of money and they aren't covered under health insurance and I'm sure that when your parents receive their next healthcare bill they're going to wonder why their daughter is going to an OB/GYN so routinely... and-and my Daddy he knows what it's like to have to hide things from parents I mean had to hide the fact that he was gay for a while befo-" Quinn silenced Rachel's with her lips. It was the only logical thing that she was sure would stop Rachel from continuing to talk. Rachel immediately relaxed into the kiss and let out a sigh. Quinn pulled back and smiled at the brunette.
"I guess I should've just said thank you and left it at that." Quinn said and Rachel nodded lazily, still dazed from the kiss.
"I think that the kiss was an appropriate form of thank you." Rachel replied without missing a beat. Quinn's eyebrow arched and Rachel immediately blushed. "I mean, it was nice and you have soft lips and very kissable. I remember from the night at Pu-" Again Quinn silenced the girl with another kiss, only this time it was chaste.
"You ramble too much." Quinn informed her. Rachel nodded shyly and opened the door to Quinn's car. She stepped out and leaned down into the car. "Three days, and back to your Dad's practice?" Rachel nodded.
"Yep, can't go by took quickly, right?"
---
Unfortunately, Rachel was wrong. The three day wait went by painfully slow for Quinn and Rachel, and surprisingly Puck who decided to not leave Quinn alone during the time period. Quinn did change the way she acted though, she spent most of her time with Rachel almost protectively, no one even dared to throw a slushie at her during those three days. But finally, this was the day ,and right after school Rachel and Quinn would leave school quickly and head to the practice.
"So, can I come?" Quinn rolled her eyes at Puck and slammed her locker door. He dug his hands into his pockets and looked at her expectantly.
"Why?" Was her only question. Puck just did what Puck always did, shrug.
"I dunno, I wanna see for myself if you really are having Rachel's baby." Quinn hit him with her books and he smirked. "Okay so I said that a little loud, but I don't really see the problem unless..." Puck paused and looked toward the ground before looking back up to Quinn. "Unless Rachel doesn't know I know." Quinn looked at him sheepishly. "She doesn't!" He said with a grin.
"I haven't exactly gotten around to telling her that you know, and I'm still confused how you could've figured this one out." She said uncomfortably and leaned against her locker. Rachel was surely taking her damn time on meeting her.
"Well, you can tell her on the way, while I follow you guys." Quinn groaned and slapped her forehead with her books. "What?"
"Shouldn't you be off with Santana or something?" She asked. Puck shrugged.
"She dumped me the other day, something about my credit score." Puck explained with a shrug. Quinn could've laughed. Sure, that was the reason. "But I don't really care, now quit coming up with reasons, I'm going." Quinn sighed.
"Dr. Berry will think you are the baby's father." Quinn said. Puck grimaced but shook it off. She wasn't going to drive him off.
"Nope, I'll play the role as 'Cousin Fabray'." Quinn just stared. God, he really wanted to go.
"Fine... just don't say anything." She said and looked down the hallway, it was almost empty, but then she saw it. The purple and green argyle sweater. "Now she comes." She grumbled.
Rachel looked at Quinn and Puck and raised an eyebrow. She walked up to them and just looked between the two for a moment. "Um... am I missing something?"
"Puck knows." Quinn said with a sigh. Rachel's eyes widened as she turned to look at Puck. Puck waved quickly and put his hand back into his pocket.
"So we're good? We can go?" He asked.
"If I knew any better, I'd say you want to know more than we do." Quinn said and started to walk toward the parking lot, with Rachel in tow. Puck shrugged and followed behind them.
"Not everyday you find out some chick got pregnant by another one." He justified and walked to his own car.
---
"You told him?" Rachel asked once they had arrived at her father's practice. Quinn sighed and shook her head.
"No, he figured it out himself, how? I don't even know." Quinn said and got out of her car. Rachel frowned and followed.
"It could've been when I yelled, 'I don't even have a penis' a few weeks ago." Rachel said, thinking out loud. Quinn stopped walked and looked at Rachel. "Oh..."
"Let's just go... Puck's already at the entrance." Quinn said pointing toward the entrance to the building.
The three of them crammed into the small examination room, Rachel on the swivel chair, Quinn on the patient chair, and Puck... well he was just in a corner poking at the machines.
"Puck if you break any of it..." Rachel began to warn. Puck rolled his eyes and dug his hands into his pockets. The door opened and Victor walked in with a chart in his hands. He looked around and his eyes landed on Puck. He raised an eyebrow and opened his mouth to talk but Rachel beat him to it. "He is not the father Daddy, just a supportive cousin." She answered quickly. Victor looked down to his daughter and smiled sarcastically, thanking her for letting him speak.
"Alrighty then, well Quinn I have the results and it looks like your hunch was right. It's a match, the guy who gave you the DNA sample is the father of the baby." Puck gasped lowly, Rachel's eyes snapped to Quinn, and Quinn just sat there. "Um... is that a good thing?"
"Ye-yes Daddy, that's a great thing." Rachel replied not taking her eyes off of Quinn. "Can you... just give us some time alone." Victor was about to question his daughter until he saw the color drain out of her face. He nodded and left the chart on the counter and walked out, shutting the door quietly.
Holy hell, it was confirmed. Rachel Berry had really managed to do the impossible. Surely Quinn knew this from the start, but it was different that actually getting it scientifically confirmed that she was pregnant with Rachel Berry's child. Quinn's eyes fluttered from open to shut a number of times.
"Quinn, are you going to be okay?" Rachel asked and put a hand on Quinn's back, rubbing it in a comforting manner. Quinn looked up to Rachel and nodded then, shook her head, then nodded again.
"Maybe, you?" Rachel shrugged and did the same as Quinn.
"I don't know, I just found out that I'm going to be a father... or mother... parent, whatever you call it in this case." Rachel said slowly. Quinn laughed helplessly.
"Told you I'm not crazy." Quinn said. Rachel let out a small laugh as well.
Puck who was stayed pretty much quiet stood there in shock, his eyes wide. Part of him just figured that Quinn and Rachel were playing a very bad joke on him, but no. Rachel really did knock up the former head cheerleader. "This... This is just awesome!"
