How to exempt an exam and how my Kindle is amazing

One day I hope to post with the regularity that I once did, but until then, here is your snippet:

My grandmother died on Wed, 23.Nov. It was pretty sad and surprising! That night, Todd and I drove to SC for two days to spend Thanksgiving with his parents. We spent Saturday night at home and on Saturday, we drove north for two days. The wake was Sunday night, wherein uncle Billy showed up and tried to lose his mind. See, he thinks the family is conspiring to write him out of grandma's will, which isn't possible because it was written over thirty years ago and hasn't changed at all. Anyway, he cursed and threw a fit. I tried to placate him a little, since I'm one of two people in the entire family whom he doesn't hate. Anyway, the funeral was Monday morning and I was a pallbearer, which was surreal. I'd never handled a casket before, even if it was a rental (g-ma was cremated). Todd and I got home from NY around eight that night.

Because of that weird holiday hold-up, I missed an English class, wherein we were supposed to be doing peer reviews for our third and final paper. my professor did my review instead, via email. I was super nervous about that paper, but I made an 'A'! I had a reputation for being "the girl who gets 'A' papers" in that class. As far as I know, I was the only person who a) made an 'A' on any paper, so naturally b) made 'As' on all three. I'm delicious.

I was panicking about my Spanish exam because it was going to be this giant accumulative thing, but the professor announced on Thursday that anyone who had an 'A' in class could exempt the final. There were four of us who could exempt, but I'm still going to the study group that I founded, because it would be unfair to expect people with 'Bs' and 'Cs' to tutor themselves.

I took my math exam today and made a 92 on that. Amazing! However, I still don't understand one of the questions that I missed.

Back in the day, my first ever DVD was "Gone With the Wind". I bought it at Walmart for $5 one night. I was so proud of myself for finally buying a piece of 20th century! Well, Todd gave me a Kindle for my birthday. He knew I wanted one because we were watching TV one night and there was a commercial, introducing a new, lower price for the Kindle. I felt bad when I received it though, because with my heavy coursework for school, I felt like I would not be able to use it for a year.

/rant/ So, I'm a college student who has to buy and carry expensive, large textbooks. There are two electronic book options; the Nook and the Kindle. Barnes & Noble owns the J Sarg bookstore, so any books they offer in e-book format are for the Nook. Incidentally, I think ONE of my textbooks had the e-book option. So, that's the only thing Nook has over the Kindle. The Kindle has many more free books including the bible, dictionary, English dictionary, thesaurus, and many of the classics. From what I understand, the Nook offers very few free books. Also, I can buy books on my Kindle with Amazon.com gift cards, which is super convenient. /end rant/

Well, I began The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo back in August but wasn't able to finish it before classes started. I picked it up again about two weeks ago and managed to finish it earlier this week, so I grabbed my Kindle and I bought Gone With the Wind for $9.99. I'm enjoying it so far!

I have two finals, but one is fake; it's actually extra credit for English, which I don't need, but the class is fun so I'll go anyway. The other final is in history and I'm nervous about that. My professor writes her exams as though she's trying to trick us, so it's frustrating. I made a 97 on my last exam, so my fingers are really crossed! I organized two study groups for that, so we're meeting this upcoming week. At least that's the only thing left on my plate and that's pretty manageable!

I hope you're all well and everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Respond and tell me what's up with you!
