Things are good. We got back from Puerto Vallarta last Monday, and I started in the new lab this most recent Monday. As of right now, it looks like I'll be revisiting the lymphoma side of things (i.e. my year as a tech) during some reading to try and carve out the beginnings of my thesis research. Unexpected, but amazing. It's an odd feeling to know that I'll be at that bench for 4 years.

Leases were signed today that make me, the blue-eyed boy, and little Sam all roommates. It's rather amazing what can happen in a year.

Lastly, I passed my prelim (i.e. several hours of oral exam hell, needed to advance to your respective department from the feeder program). Many people failed . . . not sure if they were being too harsh or they were people who weren't cut out for it in the first place, but sheesh I'll admit it was hard. Very hard.

On a slightly less positive note, being talked about behind my back is such an annoyance. More hysterical rather than aggravating, because none of it is true, but annoying at a minimum. The immaturity I still see, even out of college and supposedly surrounded by adults, amazes me. I'm starting to think that the term "adult" is much more flexible than one might think, and perhaps is best applied to one's mental status, rather than their physical status.

Happy Birthday to Helen! :)
