Reveal!

I know I've recced it before, but I can now say that the wonderful ' Storm Track' was written for me by my friend ariadne1! It's amazing and I couldn't have received a better gift. When I wrote 'no happy ending and no romance needed' into the prompt, I'd hoped that would let the author do service to the story and what it needed. And that's just what she did.  It's haunting and lyrical.

I can also now admit that ' Conspiracy Theory' is mine:

Title: Conspiracy Theory
Author: ubiquirk
Fandom: HP
Rating: PG13
Genre: action-adventure, humor, drama, romance
Pairing: Hermione, Severus
Disclaimer: Not mine; no money.
AN: Written for mundungus42 for the sshg_exchange. Set in the summer of 2006. Ignores much of the epilogue with ‘Snape lives and is exonerated by Harry’s testimony’ a given. Much thanks to my beta
firefly_124 and my Brit-picker
saracen77.

Summary: Working as the Ministry’s new Keeper of Records turns out to be not quite what Hermione Granger had in mind. It’s … well, dull, dull, boring, and possibly - no, very definitely - dull. She has a mountain of information at her fingertips - a log of everything officially recorded in the Wizarding world - and most of it’s, yes, dull. Then one day, a filing cabinet sticks, and her busy brain notices the smallest clue, one that will have her and Severus Snape struggling to uncover a conspiracy that, if true, will tarnish the Wizarding world’s golden post-war view of itself forever.

I had a wonderful time writing it, though it was a real push for me to get it done by the due date (I know - I should have asked for an extension like everyone else).  I must ask mundungus42's forgiveness that it didn't turn out dark and noir in overall tone (there's way too much of the funny), but hopefully it still felt like action/adventure.  I tried to put in two of the 'extras' asked for by sporking the MLC and taking a stab at poor/overly fast research by ... having them do lots of research, and then more research, and then ...  It was fun as well to write a romance - it had been a while.  But I really enjoyed making up the mystery at the heart of the story and was really happy that so many readers found it believable based on canon yet fresh.  I actually time-lined and thought about it lots (like you're supposed to) instead of just writing.
