Fucking me and sis are addicted to going Meltdown Comics: Wednesday nights. xDD Two weeks ago we went because we were missing it hard and damn was it a fucking amazing show, if not the best one I've seen since going there. They tweeted there were going to be really special guests, and damn they were good! I can't write about them all, but everybody was solid. ie, hits my funny bones, atleast.
I've never seen two things with a comedian that I saw with Rory Schovel: An audience that clapped for their whooooole set (comedian motivated) with time for one joke, and a comedian stage diving into a crowd of people sitting in chairs. Let me repeat: sitting in chairs. An awesome part was that he saw that the crowd wasn't ready, so he did practice rounds starting with the mic stand, upgrading it to the stool, then downplayed it to a water bottle to psych them out before doing the real thing. I saw Emily coming out from the back going "don't do itttt" with her face. Well, he did it. lol!!! I love this man-child of a comedian. <3
Damn, everybody was good! But one of the special guests was Judd Apatow. It was his first time there, and I guess he was working on new material. I never knew he was a standup. You can guess he would be a funny man, but omg laughed my ass off. He talked about how his family likes to curse, so he wasn't that surprised when his 3 yo's teacher said she told another kid to Fuck Off, and how she does ventriloquism with her vagina. It's just... sounds vulgar, but delivery is key, folks.
The dude after him said what an act to follow, but he was really solid too. Good job, sir. But after him was Aziz Ansari, another special drop in. He went off probably for a real whole set. Not the 10-15 they usually give. It felt like he did a whole hour. I know we left pretty late. Imma just say my cheeks hurt during and after the show. He's pretty good at comparing the various races of our planet. haha.
Went again last night and was delighted to see that Judd Apatow decided to drop in again. He said some of the same jokes, but you can tell he's working on them. Keegan-Michael Key was hilarious. Sasheer Zamata, the new chick on SNL, was hilarious. Always a fan of Chris Hardwick. Damn, I don't think I could quit this place, it's so awesome. It's behind a comic book store, I check out the comics while waiting. It's perfect. And they got new chairs! \o/
They have a TV show on Comedy Central which does the live show no justice, but hey gets their name out there. They asked the audience who came because of the show, and only 2 ppl shouted. hahahhaha. *sigh*
