I got to visit my cousin up in SLO over the weekend and it was awesome! It takes a couple hours to drive up there, so we don't get to see her much, so it's always nice to kick it with her when we can. She also lives in one of the best areas of the city. Literally, her house is in a secret garden within the city of SLO. What's great about it is you can't tell there's a house there unless you know it's there. You walk through the door to the garden, and the landscape changes. She also lives literally waking distance to her nearest ROSS (lol) and other various shopping/eatery/theatre places. We walked thru the ROSS as a shortcut to her place. It's pretty swanky.
One of the biggest things we got to do while up there was we finally got to see her band play. That took forever. They rocked it. Their raggae band, The Kicks, played for the local festival for about 2,000 ppl. People were dancing, and some ppl were weirdly dancing. It made for great ppl watching moments. lol.
After we had dinner, we went to a couple bars. One thing I have to mention was meeting her drummer, Timmy -- the man who gives free hugs.
We head to a place called Eureka! because apparently a really big raggae band was playing there. I've never heard of them, but they were really good. I totally missed them when the place got quiet. But sis and I meet Timmy as we were leaving.
Introductions, and true to his name, he gave us a hug. He's like I gotta give you a hug. A kinda long one, I might add. He's nice. Then off to another bar called Luna Red. I meet more of my cousins' friends, and Timmy shows up again.
He's like, "Hi, I'm Tim."
I'm like, "We met at Eureka."
"We did? I bet I didn't give you a hug."
Cousin: "You already gave them a hug!"
*Gives me another hug.*
What I forgot to mention was that my cousin had told us when he's wasted, he can't remember anything. Fast-forward to all of us heading back to my cousin's house. Me and sis go upstairs and go to sleep.
Tim to my cousin: "Who are they??"
Cousin: "You met them already! Twice!"
Tim: "I bet I didn't give them a hug."
Cousin: "You hugged them already. Twice!"
lolol
One thing I can say is my cousin knows probably everybody in SLO. Or so it seems. I met so many people through her, I stopped bothering to remember pplz names. I might know faces. That's debatable. Saturday seemed like a slew of introductions to new faces. haha. Sorry.
One kewl thing on Saturday was that I got to ride a motorcycle! Got my first lesson with them which was awesome, and now I would love to take lessons. That maybe turns into a license? I don't even own a motorcycle, lol. But man that would be kewl. I know how to turn it on, and run a bit on first gear. lolol. It was kewl.
We watched Guardians of the Galaxy. I very very recommend movie. So much I want to watch it again. Great when you're high. haha. Groot.
Sunday I got to see a real recording studio. I've seen these kinds of places on documentaries and pictures, but it was kewl seeing one in person. I kinda wanted her to do a mini session right then and there, but she wasn't playing. haha.
Overall, I love visiting her up there. It's so pretty. I wish we were closer as kids, but that's how the cookie crumbled. We're kickin' it now. =]
