I was helping my friend Josh Slates shoot his latest short film this
past weekend. He shot it on 35mm anamorphic widescreen. He figured
as long as he was making the jump to 35mm, why not go the whole 9
yards? Here are some links to some of the photos:

accosted by costumed anime enthusiasts gone bad. The bubbletea girl
busts some moves but gets in over her head. She cries for help, and
who comes to the rescue? The Pabst Blue Ribbon Girl!!!
She materializes cans of PBR from her sleeves and hurls them at her
foes. She was also cute as shit. The script (penned by Josh) is in
Cantonese. There was a translator on the set for rewrites and
everything. I was basically a grip - Set up this 8x8, move this
century stand here, wrangle the cable for the audio guys on this
shot, etc. We shot it at Fort Armistead Park, a crazy location that
Josh stumbled on while doing some scouting for some HBO picture or
other he was working on at the time. It looks like a normal beach
side park, but if you walk a little bit into the woods, you find this
old de-commissioned fort, COMPLETELY covered in graffiti. I kept
expecting some freak to stick his head out from around the corner and
say, "War-iors! Come out and play-ee-ay!" I kept thinking it would
make a great Halo level, or a cool place to play paintball.
Aside from the heat (it was hot as shit) and the bugs (mosquitoes
Saturday, biting flies Sunday) I had a great time.
