Last night I went to bed thinking of the comedic movie 28 Days Later. As a result, I had no fewer than three separate zombie-related dreams.
1. A zombie epidemic was just starting, in an urban area. People were running and slow, Romero-esque zombies were milling about the street. I had the vantage point of being about 20-30 feet off the ground, free-flying. Somehow I knew what the results of this would be, and I was having a lot of fun! It was like I was controlling a live-action zombie Real Time Strategy (RTS) game.
2. This one's zombie epidemic has been going on for a while now. I was on the ground, in a group of biker-types. We had cleared out a small encampment in the woods, and were being watchful of the borders. Unfortunately, that's all I remember of that one.
3. This is the strangest. I'm barricading my house with my mother and one or two other random people who must have found shelter with us. Occasionally we have to go outside for something or other. An older lady goes outside, and doesn't come back. I go outside to check.
Evidentally, the zombies in this dream are more like the vampires in Richard Matheson's I Am Legend, since they are perfectly ambulatory, undecayed, and possess all of their prior faculties. So I find the body of the woman outside, mangled, and standing over her is a porn star that I like. She says, "My mother had to die." Then, she matter-of-factly walks out through the open gate and around the side of the house presumably to the street. I ran back inside. And woke up.
Anyway, sometimes I'd like to think that I'd be a model survivor in a zombie outbreak, but I know I'd probably be one of the early infectees. I haven't even takes stock of all the areas concealing a weapon in the house.
