Something I've discovered about myself the last month in a half - I'm not much of a housewife.
Cleaning? Whatever ... I'm a slob and don't mind stepping around messes or writing silly notes in the dust.
But I do cook. So I've been concentrating on that. I figure, if BrotherJ is paying the rent, the least I can do is feed him.
Sure it's vegan food, but he doesn't seem to mind.
This last week he added a twist in that he's counting calories for the next few weeks. He's trying to get into snowboarding shape. So he's living on 1600 to 1700 calories* a day, plus exercising everyday.
So I've been trying to figure out how many calories per serving my dishes are. Not always easy as a lot of my recipes aren't broken down by serving and not all the ingredients I use are easy to find calorie counts for. But I've been managing. Surprisingly, most of what I make turns out to be around 200 calories a serving.
Although I'm not really counting calories for me, just for kicks and giggles I started tracking how much I consume on average a day. I seem to hover between 1800 and 2000. No wonder I haven't gained back any of the weight I lost.
Being the good sister that I am, I let BrotherJ buy me a new pair of work-out shoes so I can join him in the evenings. My first night was last Thursday and I WAY overdid it. I barely walked 2 miles on the treadmill before having to stop. I've been limping (more than usual) for the last three days. Obviously I need to rethink how I do my workout.
Anyway, I just finished planning dinners for the next week - I only make dinner, he worries about the rest of the day - and I'm tired of looking at recipes.
Off to make my dinner which I didn't even bother to figure out calories for as I'm sure it's WAAAAY more than 200 per serving.
Mmmmm veggie mac - how I love you.
