Reed Avocado

I just tried my first Reed Avocado.

I had never seen one before in my life - then I read about them on a few of my favorite cooking blogs - and wala, suddenly there they were in the store. Funny how that happens.

The blogs had not been very complementary of the Reed. Saying it was bland and tasteless - but I tried anyway.

You know what? Reeds totally rock! So creamy! I do admit that they are fruitier in flavor than your Haas or Fuente - but still full of avocado goodness.

And sooo big! Have you seen them? About the size of a grapefruit. Half of one was over plenty for my current obsession.

Final verdict? Reeds are awesome and should be consumed in mass quantities - by me! :-)
