What a weekend!
It started off pretty mellow on Friday - Knitting and drinking tea - I found that while I can knit and watch TV, knitting and talking is a bit beyond me. I now have lots of mistakes in my endless scarf.
Saturday morning I tried out a new nail place by getting a pedicure. The shop only has two people in it - one does nails the other pedicures. The pedicure lady is Italian and did a pretty good job. She's more expensive than I'm used to - but nothing she did is going to wreck my nails.
I then went to lunch with a new group I joined - Vegans Anonymous Exposed - I'm not really sure what the name is supposed to mean, but I joined so that I could interact with other vegans. We met at Jax Cafe on Santa Monica and Westwood. It took me a little over an hour to get there - but was totally worth it. The food was AWESOME and I met some really great people. Most notable was a nutrionist from Australia who was only in town for a couple of days. I also met the creators of
HappyCow - which has been an essential tool for me in finding places to eat. Lastly, I met a couple and their son who are opening up a vegan restaurant in Little Tokyo. I think I'm going to have my first vegan dining event there.
I then ended the evening in Culver City to see
Whiskey Chimp. I hadn't heard them before, but JR really recommended them. They were freaking cool! Off the cuff blue grass rockabilly old time comedy traveling show is how I'd describe them. I can't wait to see them again.
Sunday turned out to be a stay-in-my-pajammas and read trashy romances day.
