Story Cubes

Today, I went to the game store with the sole intention to buy a game. I wasn't sure which one... Dixit, Carcasonne, something. Instead, I walked away with a new set of Story Cubes.

You are probably growing tired to hear this from me, but I can't stop telling you how cool they are. As of today, I own three sets (orange - Icons, blue - Actions, and green - Voyages).

For those of you who have no clue, what Story Cubes are: They are like normal dice but instead of numbers they've got pictures on their sides. Those pictures are icons (e.g. the moon, a ship, a flower), actions (stickmen doing stuff like sleeping, washing dishes, walking), or now 'voyage' themed symbols (a crab, a pirate flag, a rocket, etc.).

The game then works like this: You throw a certain number of dice (3, 6, or 9). Then you look at the resulting pictures and tell (or write) a story incorporating all the things your dice are showing.

For all those of you in Oldenburg: "Comic Buch & Spiel" still has them in stock.
Go and grab a set for yourself.
They are totally worth it, whenever writer's block strikes. ;-)
