I've been researching artificial sweeteners for my Nutrition course, and found out something odd.

Splenda, the trade name of an artifical sweetener listed as being a "Calorie Free" sugar alternative called Sucralose
A: is not simply Sucralose,
B: Contains about 4 calories per packet.

Why is this so?
