The screams of the dying and mourning are so easily heard from here. 'Tis both repulsing and comforting. I am grateful that it is not I in those streets below, dying and suffer as they do, but I cannot help but wish there was something I could do to thwart this madness.

'Tis a shame. Have thou taken in the plague, Sir Kurogane?

I seem to be showing the beginning signs of it--twould be best if I were not around the others so that they do not catch it as well.

He tends to be stubborn.

Indeed he does. It shan't help that Lady Lilith doest not seem to trust me.

Certainly.

However, it is my feeling that the plague is of a larger concern than issues of where one places their trust. That is why I believe it would be better were he to stay with you.

Perhaps if we sent him with a couple of the children it might help to ease his mind.

These were my thoughts as well. Perhaps they shall listen to them.

Children? Miss Sakura and Sir Syaoran?

Yes. I would rather my apprentice was exposed to this as little as possible. And he will not go anywhere without the Lady Sakura.

The children are more than welcome here, as thou art. Their journey shan't be far, shall it?

It should only take them three quarters of a day on horseback, if they do not stop.

The day is growing short as we speak. Have they been informed of their journey?

Informed, but unfortunately they have yet to leave.

He is making this a trial--

I shall see if I can convince him to be a guide to the castle for the children; mayhap thou canst devise a way of keeping him there once they arrive?

I shall do everything I can to see that he stays here once they arrive. Though, as he seems to think I am a "lily-liver'd flesh monger," I doubt there is much that can be done.
