Day 1, tutorials tutorials tutorials
so finally, today should be a quiet day that has nothing to do with a holiday or anything else for that matter. Oh, almost forgot the "if I'm lucky" bit... that's an important part.
I'm spending today reading and doing tutorials for 3D Studio Max. fun fun fun
I get to write up a progress report ... tomorrow... for what all I've done this week.
So far that's looking like it's going to go something like ' got 3DS installed and running, read some tutorials, and generally got setup with the basics of the group. '
for full honesty, I'd have to include something along the lines of ' haven't actually done anything related to the project yet, but I'll get there soon, ought to have more useful stuff in next weeks progress report '
what can I say, I'm cynical some days.
Anyway, we all meet in IRC & from what I've been able to be logged into IRC here, there's some key people who are logged in all the time... at work, while they're asleep, etc... My subconsious seems to be racking what bits of my brain it can reach to determine a good solid reason for such behavior. The best I've come up with so far, has been logging everyone's chat in the main channel. But even that seems a bit ridiculous to my more consious bits of mind. I can understand the IRC at work bit as a means of conversational distraction easily put aside.... but while you're asleep? ah well... and to think I used to think of myself as a pathological Internet user once upon a time... not that I didn't occasionally do things like that purely for the purpose of logging, in the hopes that sometime later I might find the time to actually read the log.

in a way... I really miss my days as a pathological Internet user... I was addicted to the Internet and I didn't care.
Well at least I didn't come out as a NeoTechie! Ran into that once or twice or ... 20-some times =) But their emphasis on logic, while being so illogical in their own FAQ and online materials just drove me away. =) They sounded like they had some good ideas, but their religious wonkyness was too much for me.
bah, I've wasted too much time blathering about here, I should get back to the tutorials. I wonder how many I can go through before I start pulling my eyes out of my head... heh, I'd have a better attitude towards them if the software would just do exactly as the tutorial says it should. I'd say this was the price I pay but... the GMAX tutorials were doing things wrong too... leading me to believe that the tutorials weren't solely based on the final release of the software... joy.
Well at least 3DS is doing one thing that GMAX used to do but doesn't now (even though the tutorial says it should). So by switching to a different app, I got the functionality that I was missing (and lost a different function... damnit).
