I work in a building between two gas stations. We are sitting here, watching them change the prices of gas. This week, I have watched the price go from $2.53 on Monday to $2.79 yesterday. That's 26 cents in two days. But today we have watched them change the price 3 times in 5 hours. It's now over $3.00 a gallon.
While I don't doubt that the bloodsucking turkeys will continue to raise their prices steadily as much as they can, I have to say that pretty soon something will have to give. One year ago we were complaining that that the gas prices had risen to $1.50. A month ago, I couldn't believe we'd already hit $2.00. Today, we're over $3.00. That raised a full dollar in under a month. So, yeah, if they keep going the way they are, the whole country is going to have to go bankrupt to keep up with the price of gas. We won't be able to go anywhere, and it'll take us fifty to a couple of hundred dollars to fill up each tank of gas. They're either going to have to put in decent public transportation, or they'll have to lower gas prices again. There's no way we can keep up with this.
I guess I'll be walking a couple of hours to work pretty soon. I can hardly afford the gas I pay for now. I have no idea how I'll be able to afford gas in a few more days. And there's no way that my company will ever raise our pay based on the cost of living. This bites. And, like much of life, there's absolutely nothing we can do about it.
