I long for the days when horses and trains were the source of transportation. I finally have enough money to pay off my car/ payoff is low enough and it turns out I have a $1,000 in problems with the car. If anyone recalls that child's song "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly...." and she goes on to swallow bird or something to swallow the spider, then she swallows a cat to swallow the bird, etc. Well, that is kinda the situation with my car. One thing went wrong which caused something else to go wrong which caused something else to go wrong. Bad dohicky causes a bad thingamajig which somehow effects the tires (I actually know what tires are). Here is an important lesson in my experience: one place gave me an estimate of $750 for one of my car's problems and another gave me an estimate for $500 for the same problem...so always get at least one second opinion for expensive stuff. Which I knew anyway (illustrated by me doing it), but it is scary the price difference.
This weekend was fun on the East side. Nice distraction from my [perpetual] financial difficulties. My dad is doing ok (he had a heart attack a couple weeks ago). That whole situation was bizarre and brought up so many different feelings/thoughts etc. My dad, working overtime at work, having demanding work at work lately, the car crap (including an accident with which i ended up in a massive ditch) and being sick with colds has left me drained. 2005 is kinda sucking so far. Maybe it will be isolated to just January. I figure only so many annoying negatvie things can happen to one person within one given amount of time. This is completely irrational and life doesnt work like that, but still. Then there is the thought that things could be so much worse. SO MUCH Worse. Which makes me guilty for my personal self-pity parties. Here is my recent (colorful) analogy or saying or whatever: When life throws you shit it does no good to just sit in it. Gross, true, and perhaps me bitching in livejournal is not indicative of my following my own advice.
