HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYBODY!
I interviewed for a job a little over a week ago, that I didn't get. The interesting thing is that the two women interviewing me were U of M alumni, coincidentally. I thought that having gone to U of M might actually matter for once (at least get me a couple bonus points, I didn't expect in and of itself to get me a job). It really doesnt seem to matter where I went to school. I think in high school I had the impression that the college you attend and it's reputation would somehow impact your marketability. I guess it does matter in some fields. But not mine, apparently. On the bright side the job was in Holland, which I don't particularly like (I have applied to stuff all over West Michigan). I would prefer Grand Rapids, but maybe I should try the Detroit area. I could try Chicago too, which would actually be pretty cool, but there are some logistics like state licensing requirements and such, that would be a barrier. I've also considered just switching fields. Better to make that choice sooner rather than later. Argh. I seem to have about as much direction now than I did back when declaring a Social Science major my Junior year. Cuz the problem isnt just that I am not finding a "real" job, it's that I am not even getting offered jobs that I dont really want. If that makes any sense.
In two weeks cliff and I are moving to a new apartment (outside of Holland but at least a little closer to Grand Rapids). It is a two bedroom, with two full bathrooms, washer/dryer included, microwave included and it has never been lived in, most utilities covered all for only $510 a month ("special deal") which is amazing compared to every where else in Michigan. My only other news is that I have borderline astygmatism in my eyes. Which explains why certain things, especially letters far away (i.e. the signs with street names), are blurry. That concludes the excitement that is my life lately.
BEST WISHES AND WARM TIDINGS THIS SEASON. HAPPY NEW YEAR. ETC.
