As someone who's only seen the movie (and still doesn't get the ending bit even after watching it no less than ten times *sigh*) I say: THANK YOU! Thinkgs make sense now! (Relatively. I still don't get the end of the movie)
I've read the book, seen the movie, love the character. I think you're doing great with him so far.
Definitely choosing a name for him is easier. Calling him Jack makes sense from the fanon standpoint. I always had the impression that the narrator's real name was Tyler Durden and he was just so dissociated from himself that he didn't have a name at all.
Jack is definitely better than calling him Cornelius.
