Ok So I realized I forgot to mention two games I've beaten in the last school year.

+.Hack// G.U. : So I finally completed this 3 installment sequel to the older .hack/ game (which I've never played, I mean too but I'll have to find someone to borrow it from). I played this because Danril requested I do so telling me it was LIEK THE BEST THING EVARR ( Read more... )

animu related, vedio-gamuus

regarding .hack: it stinks and needs to go away or something.

as for Shadow of the Collosus, i can see its appeal, but just don't dig the execution. for me, it comes across as drab and boring. the controls are too unresponsive for me (it feels like some kind of action-event movie rather than a game), and the framerate is really, really low, which takes away from the intensity a fair bit. this game should have waited for the next gen consoles rather than coming out on the PS2. i feel that this was its biggest downfall. the PS2 is simply not powerful enough for what the title is demanding.

the replay value isn't very high (almost nonexistant), but on the flip side, i think that anything above 6 hours is a very long game for me, and anything exceeding 10 is nearly unplayable, so the dollar-per-hour value is there for me (i think $10-$20/hour of fun gameplay is about right in my books, although some people go by a kind of absurd $1-$2 per hour of gameplay rule) i've always been a short-and-sweet arcade style gamer, so it's really personal preference there. i dunno how people can begin to call 10 hours a short game, myself!

but anyways, that's what i think. cool concept, but the execution left me unimpressed and bored. opinions and such :]

We are two very different types of gamers, I doubt you'll ever have a glowing opinion of what I play. I dislike arcade style games. I played Mario, Pacman, Centipede, Missle Command, Mappy and several others a lot when I was a kid, but they hold a very shallow pleasure for me. Kind if like popcorn, small and unsatisfying. I'm into RPG, adventure, fighters and RTS. All things I can spend a ton of time on.

To put it simply if a game looks like shit, doesn't bother me as long as objects are distinguishable. If it's controls are painful to use I can adjust, and usually if it's less then 10 hours what was the point of even spending a dollar on it. :3

I can agree that hack is bad as a game and as a story-telling medium. It's pretty much a big anime you press X button through.

As for Shadow of the Collosus, all I can say is that all the things that bother you didn't even phase me.
