Yay! The flat is slowly being cleared and we have space to move again. My endless boxes and books have been taking up vertical columns that gradually spread into mini office blocks... Friday, I did battle with Ikea and my war prize was a matching black bookcase that we threw together but is already close to being completely filled up. I've put all my jewellery and craft/arts books on it but it looks as though we'll need to get another one or perhaps, three bookshelves to accommodate the number of books I still have in storage. 6 large magazine holders are also completely chockas. Mainly jewellery and other trade mags. The Dymo labeller is getting a workout and I'm feeling in control of my wild environment again. Meanwhile we have space again!
I've been uncovering precious notebooks, thought missing in action and the like with like plan is progressing well. Mini plastic tubs with lids have labels and different projects placed within and stacked on top of the bookshelf. Ah, the feeling of completion even when the projects aren't actually finished!! In between things I'm working on my assignments and presentation project for the Cert IV Training and Assessment course I've been doing. Only 3 weeks left and lots of encouragement from the tutor to put together a course/session proposal for the Macquarie Community College. The course is in Carlingford but many of their courses are held in 3 locations in our street. It'd make for easy access and lugging of tools!!
Last night we ventured out for a second night of japanese food and topped it up with several hours of the newest Star Trek movie. Enjoyed it immensely. Lots of giggles and in jokes, good effects and interesting to see the guy who plays Silar in Heroes (a twisted individual) as the young Spock. As we're both a bit ill (fluey/colds) it was a pleasant distraction. Other than that there's been a fair bit of computer gaming going on as an alternative inhouse distraction.
On the workfront, now that I'm self employed, HOJ has asked me to do a few days each week in the office assisting with the inventory prior to stock take. No sales :) Same day the Rowany Senate agreed to my proposed quote for etching masters, making moulds and casting up 3 of the baronial award tokens. That is, the R, the Frantic Falcon and the Staple. Hence the new bookcase and whirlwind of tidying to give me the space to work. Another job, a WWI enamelled gold regimental ring has just been lost by the client in her garden and will probably need to be remade from the photos taken to assist in determining the original proposal of re-enamelling the chipped original. She also wants to make copies for other family members.
Really need to work on designing up my business cards. One for the training side and the other for the jewellery industry... Life is always busy but am enjoying it now. Self determination is a grand thing!
