My roommate just went into the bird room and found one of my babies Gone.
I rescued her from a bunch of kids in a parking lot ten years ago. I never really had a clue as to exactly how old she was. I had not looked at her leg band in years. Her leg band was dated 1997. So that means she was about 12 years old I guess.
Daisy was a fantastic little lutino tiel. Even if she was happier just hanging around rather than being handled. She talked to me and chewed on my glasses all the time. And out of now where she started laying eggs this past 6 months. That is how I finally new for sure she was a girl. She laid one egg this past spring off of her perch. And a few weeks ago laid another one the same way. I am guessing I either lost her to old age or to egg binding if she tried to lay another. I am not going to get a necropsy done as we cannot afford it and it really will not change anything. All other birds seem to be fine in the bird room.
So I just added another feathered friend to the "Flight Line" the bird Cemetery we started here at the house after we moved in.
So long Daisy I am glad you finally got you real wings. Go join the Flock, Say hi to Cooter, Pappa keet, Ziva and Lost Bird for me.
