jennis_footie posted a meme about alcoholic beverages in her journal, and I think it's an awesome idea, so I decided to snag it. :D

My favourite alcoholic beverages, associated recipes and information:

1. Favourite types of beer:

1.1 Gambrinus

Gambrinus is a beer brewed in the Czech Republic at the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery. It is one of the most popular beers in the Czech Republic. The beer is named after Gambrinus, a legendary king of Flanders known for his mythical brewing abilities. Gambrinus sponsors Gambrinus liga, the premier Czech football league.

1.2 Budweiser

Not to be confused with the American "Budweiser", the original Budweiser is the most famous beer from the Czech brewery Budějovický Budvar. It's known as Budweiser Budvar in the European Union, Czechvar in the United States and Canada[1], and either Budweiser Budvar or Budějovický Budvar in the rest of the world.

1.3 Thorbräu Maximilian's Kellerbier

A specialty from one of Augsburg's oldest breweries, made from pure brewing water, fine malt, hop from Hallertau (Bavaria's most famous hop region) and selected yeast. It's stored in the cellar of the brewery for at least six weeks at 0°C to ripen and is then filled into bottles without a filter - the reason for its special flavour.

1.4 Kilkenny

Kilkenny is an Irish cream ale which originated in Kilkenny, Ireland. The brand is managed and produced by Diageo. It is available in draught and cans. Ingredients: water, malted barley, roasted malted barley, hops, and yeast.

1.5 Desperados

Desperados is a a pale lager flavoured with tequila and usually served with a slice of lime. It's produced in France and its listed ingredients are water, malted barley, glucose syrup, corn, sugar, aromatic compounds (75% Tequila) citric acid, and hop extract.

2. Favourite spirits and liquors:

2.1 Rum

2.2 Sherry

2.3 Whisky

2.4 Midori

Midori is a bright, green-coloured, muskmelon-flavored cordial made by Suntory. It is manufactured in Mexico, though it was originally made in Japan until 1987. Midori is usually 20-21% alcohol by volume. The name comes from midori, the Japanese word for "green".

2.5 Amaretto

Amaretto is a sweet almond liqueur of Italian origin.
