someone out there hates my guts...

Okay, so today there was the draw for the CL quarterfinals.

The following ties were drawn:

1. Villarreal CF vs Arsenal FC
2. Manchester United vs FC Porto
3. Liverpool FC vs Chelsea FC
4. FC Barcelona vs FC Bayern München

I don't mind the first one too much. It's going to be an exciting tie, and I know who I'm rooting for (even though I'll probably be the only one here to root for them).

I do, however, mind the second one. A lot. In fact, it riles me up more than the third one, which is saying something. I'm just sick and tired of the Mancs having the easiest way to the final, and from how things are looking, they will have it again this season. With all due respect, Porto is clearly one of the weakest teams that reached the quarterfinals, and if Utd beat them, they'll play against either Villarreal or Arsenal in the semifinals. Which, no doubt about it, is definitely a LOT more difficult than what the other finalist will have to overcome. *rolls eyes*

Which brings me to the next tie. I'm glad that at least one English team won't survive the quarterfinals, but why, oh why, do Liverpool have to play against Chelsea YET AGAIN? Weren't the two CL matches of last season enough? As I wrote in some other post, I feel like I'm in the middle of the movie "Groundhog Day" - just without the groundhog. *facepalm* Not that I have any doubts that we can beat Chelsea, but I wish the Mancs had drawn them. They would have deserved them.

And the last one. Probably the worst one. Those of you who know me well are aware of the fact that I've been a Bayern fan since my youth. It's the club I grew up with. There's no doubt that I'll be rooting for them, and honestly, I think they might even have a good chance to advance to the semifinals. They'll be extremely motivated against a side like Barcelona, and I have a feeling that they're highly underrated in the CL despite the 12-1 aggregate win against Sporting, which might help them. However, I do like Barcelona, too, and even if Bayern advance, a small part of me shall be sad - for the Barça boys as well as sebastiona. I hate it when football puts me and my friends on opposing sides because I'm the one who ends up suffering, and I'm sure this won't be the last time because...

... it's more than possible that Bayern will play against Liverpool in the semifinals. Upon which I'll probably kill myself before football does the job for me. The Liverpool vs Real Madrid matches were horrible enough, and if there is yet another knock-out round with two of my very favourite teams playing against each other, I'll eventually have become so torn that the sheer force of my battling sympathies will rip me in two pieces.

Why does the Football God hate me so much.
