germany vs brazil: 2-0...

OMG, GERMANY WON THE WORLD CUP!!!! The German women's national team just beat Brazil 2-0 in an absolutely breathtaking final! No football team has ever managed to win the cup twice in a row, but the girls did it! And they passed the whole tournament without a single goal against! Nadine Angerer even parried a penalty today and overtook Italian goalie Walter Zenga, who used to hold the record of 517 minutes without a goal against.

Prinz's and Laudehr's goals were awesome. Germany played strategically clever, managed not to get too annoyed by Brazil's incessant fouling and cheating, kept a cool head and created excellent advances. Brazil have good, technically versatile players, but to me, they didn't seem like a team, more like a collection of individualists. I wonder why they have a midfield, as their advances usually started in the defense with a very long pass to the forwards. One that usually got caught by the excellently positioned German defense. I'm so proud of our girls, they did an awesome job throughout the tournament and deserve this award.

If that isn't excellent advertising for the 2011 World Cup in Germany and for women's football in general, I don't know what is.
