czech republic vs. germany: 1-2...

YAY, we won!

And just like I predicted, with one goal more than the Czech Republic. :D I'm happy that Milan Baroš scored, because I secretly adore the "Mowgli" (doesn't he just look like Mowgli from the Jungle Book?). :D And I'm glad Tomaš Rosický played well, too; he's also one of my favourites. I must say, however, that despite my love for the aforementioned, I kept squeeing about Tomaš Ujfaluši whenever he appeared on screen. Damn, that guy is gorgeous. Why did he have to transfer to Fiorentina? Why couldn't he have stayed with the Hamburger SV? *sad sigh*

Butbut. The Germans. At the beginning, I was a bit worried because even though they played nice football, they didn't manage to advance to Petr Čech's goal. Also, they lost the ball too often. I think Kuranyi's first goal came as release to the whole team, and afterwards, they started playing better. After the second goal, the Czech team had to advance more, of course, which is why Plašil (who looks like Marco Engelhardt *gags*) and later Kulič (whom I had never seen before) came into the game. The Czechs managed to get a lot more chances than during the first half of the match, but Germany's defence did very well (and I was pleased to see that Philipp Lahm destroyed two of the Czechs' major chances), and I have to praise our midfielders (especially Michael Ballack) and forwards (especially Kevin Kuranyi), too, who helped out when things got too difficult for Metzelder and Mertesacker. Also, the way Lahm (1.70 m) challenged Jan Koller (2.02 m) was simply awesome. And quite funny to watch, to be honest! XD

Best player on the field was Marcell Jansen for me. He was everywhere at once. His passes and crosses were great. And OMG, did you see that one scene in which the Germans (including Marcell) cleverly passed the ball via 5 or 6 stations to the penalty area? I swear, the Czech team was majorly confused by this. *LOL* And rightly so, because such brilliance usually only happens during training. Awesome.

The only scene I wasn't too pleased with was the quick counterattack of Podolski and Schneider. This was a 100 percent chance. Podolski should have shot, himself, instead of giving the ball to Schneider. Or if he really really wanted to pass the ball to Schneider, he should have done that a moment later, and have waited for Petr Čech to come out of the goal towards him, thus leaving enough space for Schneider who would only have had to slide the ball in. Bernd Schneider is a great player, but he's no forward like Miro Klose, for example. (Maybe Lukas just missed Miro.)

I was surprised that Jogi Löw only used one sub - Thomas Hitzlsperger - and at a point where he could have used all three to kill time. Ah well, he must have had his reasons. Still, I'm dying to see Kießling and Castro play for the national team. :)
I'm more sorry for the Czech bench, though. Jarolím, Grygera AND Kováč didn't play. That's like keeping Frings, Lahm AND Ballack on the bench for an important match. *shakes head* What did Karel Brückner THINK when he decided that? Sionko and Rozhenal weren't the best replacements for them, like, at ALL.

Statistics:

Teams:
- Czech Republic: Čech - Ujfaluši (Vlček, 84.), Jiránek, Rozehnal,
Jankulovski -
Galásek (Kulič, 67.) - Sionko (Plašil, 46.), Rosický, Polák - Baroš,
Koller
- Germany:
Lehmann - Lahm, Mertesacker, Metzelder,
Jansen - Frings, Ballack - Schneider, Schweinsteiger - Kuranyi, Podolski (Hitzlsperger, 89.)

Goals:
0-1 Kuranyi (41., header, assist by Frings)
0-2 Kuranyi (62., header, assist by Lahm)
1-2 Baroš (76., left foot, assist by Polák)

Referee: Rosetti (Italy) - refused Germany a clear penalty when Jankulovski fouled Kuranyi in the Czech's penalty area (75.) *pout* But we won nevertheless, so fuck that.

Am currently downloading what I taped of the match last night. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out! *eyebrow waggle*
